I think there will be some voter suppression, basically in similar forms to 2020. Hell, voting in person and on Tuesday is voter suppression imo. (CA permanent absentee is solid.) I don’t think there can be a lot more voter suppression than 2010-2018, other than perhaps swing states with both GOP governor and legislature. Don’t think there are many of those, and changes to voting in 2019/20 can often be held up in the courts.
I expect the Russians to do similar things that they did in 2016, m…

In theory, they could also invoke executive privilege. Simply refusing to answer the subpoena without even asserting an excuse would likely constitute obstruction, but there’s no self-executing remedy–one “remedy” could be a contempt vote. However, we’re now in impeachment-land, and the more likely route is, as with Nixon, the failure to cooperate with the investigation is added as an article of impeachment and is taken into consideration when voting to impeach and, in the Senate, to convict.

“Significant stonewalling will genuinely anger the Senate.”
LOL the Senate GOP got in line and fully supported the stonewalling.
Another note, not only will there be an ongoing Goodfellas roll up, to one extent or another, but the impeachment procedures and expectations will in large measure be payback for the Clinton impeachment. He played by the rules, in part because the case was BS and he was going to win, and now Trump will also be expected to play by the rules. After 20 years the chickens are coming home to roost.
Hey @narrator was Trump expected to play by the rules in the impeachment trial or nah?
Whatever plan Trump thought he had to monetize the presidency will be crushed if he’s impeached. He doesn’t understand much, but I’m certain he understands that.
He’s gonna fight like a cornered badger. And he’s going to lose a couple of limbs and a more than a few teeth in the process. Our democracy will take some lumps, but there are people like Schiff who are done with play time and ready to bring down the hammer.
Did Schiff bring down the hammer? Is play time over? Did Trump stop grifting off the presidency?
So Pompeo’s flawless plan to obstruct results in IG’s urgent briefing to Congress and testimony of at least half the witnesses they were trying to prevent.
Trump and his team of morons seem to be following the old stick the finger in the light socket strategy.
Wonder what the DOJ IG is up to these days?
What came of that urgent IG briefing again?
Is it just me or is Trump struggling to keep his head above water as the river of shit rises?
I think people assuming they know what the result will be from public hearings are jumping the gun.
A few data points: they killed Nixon.
But, Nixon didn’t have Fox, and see Mueller, Access Hollywood tape, 15k lies, grifting, etc.
I’m cautiously optimistic that public hearings will reach 20% of casual trumpists and he’ll find a way to implode.
If nothing else, I want votes on the record, particularly in the Senate.
Turns out we were right about the result of public hearings.
There are some things that are difficult for the AG to mess with thanks to Nixon and Hoover reforms. Also, Barr is under scrutiny, has his fingers in the impeachment pie, and is unpopular. He’s no doubt putting some sand in the gears, bit it’s not that easy for him.
Turns out Barr probably pretty much shut down the Mueller Report, and has been doing more than putting some sand in the gears on basically everything since then, pretty fucking easily.
