As many of you are now likely aware, a number of UP users have started a spinoff site. The website was founded by users who have enjoyed our time on UP, and have enjoyed conversing with all of you. Unfortunately, several of us do not feel safe on UP anymore because of recent events, or were threatened off the site, or feel that UP as it currently exists is just broken and is not a productive place to try to converse with friends amidst constant and intentional disruption and attacks.
We really want to get back to the time when posting on this forum was fun and felt like something we were all part of together, versus today when the dumbest e-feuds imaginable blow up in the dumbest spots imaginable and make the site experience significantly worse for everyone, with a small group of posters fighting tooth and nail to make sure the forum can never get any better than this.
To be clear, the spinoff site is not invite-only; anyone can register at any time. This is also not a forum whose purpose is to trash, troll, or disrupt Unstuck. Discussion of UP on slowpony (especially as a means to trash people behind their backs) is strongly discouraged, and we wish everyone on UP well. The site will have a simple & sane moderation policy, similar to every other open online community in existence, so there will no longer be a need to endlessly litigate & form feuding camps over moderation philosophy. Finally, the forum is not hidden or blocked, so you can see what is being discussed at all times, even if you are not a registered user.
The website was set up in beta testing a few days ago, and we slowly started adding users via PM invites. We were concerned that bad actors may attempt to impersonate existing UP users if we just opened it wide all at once. If you didn’t receive an invite, it wasn’t because you were being excluded, we just didn’t get to you yet. Unfortunately, our fears were realized when bad actors did exactly that, and impersonated another UP poster to get an invite and send the link to their NMNM friends. We are therefore opening the site to anyone who wants to join immediately, but to avoid the impersonation problems we sadly have to deal with, we may PM you on UP just to ask if that is really you.
If you firmly believe that internet moderation is evil and should not exist, to the point where you think others who support its use must be bad people, then maybe you can get an invite to NMNM. For literally everyone else, you are welcome to join us.
