The Presidency of Donald J. Trump, Episode VI: No Witnesses, One Defector, No Checks or Balances

surprised the New Yorker style guide calls for a diaeresis there

I know this will probably be lost but I think this is of some import.

I definitely think Rudy has indigestion today.

It’s a sickness with them, they can’t abide hyphens.

The spiel that killing him was to prevent an attack is twisted. As you note, at his level there is no disruption at all.

Trump is an imminent threat

Like they are acting like he’s some Al Quaeda commander hiding in a cave… when he’s top military brass for a major regional power. The reality is that they had no idea how big a move they were making when they made it. Now they’ve gone and given Iran the BEST possible opportunity to have a full blown shooting war they are ever going to get.

We’re up shit creek without a paddle for real now.

I like this Soledad lady. Doing a great job of calling out the idiots & apologists.

The average Trump voter has no idea what the difference is between Arabs and Persians.

The words ‘won his reelection campaign by well over 50 points’ makes me suspect that the R’s could run Clayton Bigsby in this district and still win by 40 points.

I grew up in that district and can tell you you’re right.

Clayton Bigsby would have legitimate President equity in the current Republican party.

Jacob Wohl previously stated he would enlist if Trump attacked Iran.

BUT WAIT!

I might have to rethink my opposition to the Soleimani execution if it has the potential to put Jacob Wohl in harm’s way.

Hard to fathom what kind of country would do such a thing.

It’s always projection with these fucks.

In LA “Persian” is used to describe Iranian Jews.

Well…most of the Persians in your part of town (broadly - coming from someone out here in the sticks), or people who call themselves and are called Persian, are Jews. I worked with an Israeli guy who was always complaining about a “Persian” guy who owned a supply house and I had thought he was hating the guy for being, well Persian/Muslim, but the guy was/is a Persian Jew. A huge number of Persian Jews moved to LA in 1979. And, as you know, some people call areas of LA (mostly in and around Beverly Hills) Tehrangeles.

But, I have a “Persian” friend from LA whose family is Muslim (well, half - other half is Euro).

I’m not exactly sure what makes some Iranians Persian and others not. Could be ethnic or regional or whether or not you speak Farsi. With Jews it could be the relative (and it is only relative) acceptance of Jews in Persia. The Moroccan or Yemeni Jews I’ve known sure don’t consider themselves Arab.
