Do you all notice that whenever they do a category related to economics or business (which is rarely), the contestants are generally clueless? Last night we had:

Also two wrong answers in that category on CD being certificate of deposit and “collateral” being the thing you put up against a loan. Like I said before, the show is definitely written by and for a certain type of person (the kind that knows every detail about every minor character in Hamlet but has never heard of compound interest).
Not sure I would have gotten compound interest in time because my brain is calibrated to think of one word answers in that type of category.

I assume they would have accepted “compounding.” But you bring up another good point which is that the writers for this show are fucking terrible.

My students simply don’t get Jeopardy. Like they know the rules, but it doesn’t necessarily make sense to them.
From their perspective, I get it. If you were to answer the question “Who is Thomas Jefferson?” with an answer from a Jeopardy clue, people would think you were insane. Human beings don’t speak like written Jeopardy clues. So it is extremely weird if you aren’t familiar with the game at a young age. Oh and have English as your second or third language.
Getting caught up
Just saw the one where the champ bet it all from first to lose. Then the next night the new champ did the same thing, but got it right. Unbelievable. Back to back nights all in from first.

Atlanta, the trick is to think of large bodies of water first vs trying all the capitals. I thought Pacific-Pacifica and then immediately went to Atlantic-Atlanta.
Wouldn’t have gotten it. To me, Altantica would have been the feminized form.

Omg wtf some college kid just completely biffed a Wheel of Fortune puzzle. Two letters left, obvious what they were, and they were both the same. Pat prompted the dude for the letter with an attitude implying everyone in the universe knew the answer. Kid VERY confidently said the wrong letter and I still have no idea what he thought the word was.
