Trump’s strategy of lying works because he does it so much he literally can’t be taken seriously. Like if I point to a white wall and tell you it’s blue (Trump), you’re just going to chuckle. But if I keep telling you we’re gonna paint that white wall blue (eDems) and 4-30 years later it’s still white, which will you be most fed up with and think was the sneakier and more disingenuous tactic?

That too. The guy has found this weird viable spot on the lie/truth spectrum where you can tell nearly all lies and it isn’t that bad… and pre 2016 me would be surprised and horrified to discover that something like that existed. I used to think you had to base lies on at least some semblance of truth for them to work. Nope you can just tell all lies and gaslight your supporters into buying all of your lies instead of their actual eyes.
To believe the Warren smear you need to know nothing about bar admission or lateral academic hiring. Warren gained zero benefit having her believed ancestry on her bar card, and her being hired at Harvard from another top 10 law school had zero to do with any preference. You probably know that, but there are few smears more effective to a certain class of unskepitical people than claiming affirmative action.

I’d rather have someone with some potential Kennedy-like upside than someone who is very likely in cognitive decline and will almost certainly be in cognitive decline in 4 years. I have similar but lesser concerns about Liz. Almost no one makes it to 80 without losing at least part of their marbles. Again, I think no one over 70 should be allowed to run. There are 330M people in the US. We can find someone else.

You and some other posters are proving my concerns about a subset of Bernie Bros time and again in this and other threads. However, as I noted, we need stupid people to be on our side, which is one of the reasons why I think Bernie can beat Trump. Bernie had the highest donor support among waiters and Liz had the highest support among mathematicians. In a popularity contest, you want the support of the waiters.

The former Republican smear doesn’t make sense to me. Her academic work is mostly about how the system screws regular families. She changed her party after doing research on how people get screwed. Before that she was a poor white single mother who probably vibed with Reagan’s gauzy appeal, like tens of millions of others. Most people do not spring from the womb with a fully formed ideology.
