Winter cricket and bridge thread - Held over by popular demand

Yeah, I’ve never heard of this kind of arrangement and I have to believe that if you call the bank you can ask them to keep your landlord’s hands out of the cookie jar. Or maybe this is all legal and USA#1 is way more fucked than I realize.

Wait I’m confused, how do you pay rent? Is it check or autopay from your account? Or are you saying the landlord initiates the payment from your account?

Well there are really a pretty limited number of items for which this possibility even comes up. And in a lot of them it makes sense.

Does anyone not pay for their mortgage with direct withdrawal? Life insurance?

Cancel that shit with your bank. When the landlord inquires tell him to go fuck himself the whole point of rent not being automatic is to at least instill the illusion that he’ll fulfill his landlord duties and not, like, forget about heat during the winter holidays.

Wine cave restocking?

My 1st night in my new home, my 1st ever home tbh… Goto the estate agent, see a flat in the window exactly where I want to be…

I get it… Yes… Pay £990 up front… 1 months rent and 2 months in advance… Superb.

Goto the house and get my stuff from the hostel and the council guys give me a lift and a helping hand… Great stuff as they even bought me a chippy later on as I couldn’t pay them either they said its there thank you to me, great stuff and I’m chuffed as bits.

It took us 2 runs and like 6 hours total for the flitting :joy: And we were not exactly quiet…

Guys leave at around 5pm…I start to chill out a roll 1 and it’s 10pm then comes the knock I’ve been dreading… Its the Police is the call. FUCKKKKK I’m homeless again I think to me self.

So I open the door with the glum face expecting the handcuffs, and in walks 2 officers and 2 old men in which 1 of the goes straight to my bedroom and I realised right there as 1 of the officers says to him to stand in the hallway IF it’s OK with me… And the officer immediately asks for my lease.

I oblidge and he goes through it, checks my receipt and asks a few short questions of where the estate agents are and when I signed my contract did I read it all.

I’m like well of course not, I was just so happy I got accepted for a lease and he gives me advice on how to make sure I know the ins and outs by recommendations of housing lawyers and that IF I wanted to take action against these 2 oldmen in my house I could and I just ask if they can be removed from my home and warned.

The officers preceded to remove the 2 men and leave themselves saying that they won’t be back unless I call them and if these same 2 men are seen in or around the rented property to call the station and I can enact a harassment claim, warning the 2 men that if they come back without reason or a call from the estate agent then there getting a visit from the officers again, and he gave them a stern warning as I closed my door for the night.

I do not think this exact scenario would have happened the way it did in many places around the UK and our police force tend to side with tenants more often than not. :joy:

Owners of the houses who let it to estate agents appearing at your rented apartment on the 1st night was a surprise tbh. I expected it the 2nd day but not that night… :joy::joy::joy:

How many wine cave folks do you know that need home mortgages and term life insurance?

Well I rent my wine cave and am also not a real adult so I’m not sure.

There are laws for tons of things that don’t get enforced/generally are broken. It’s the consequences that matter. I don’t really care too much, I can always stop payment on a transfer if I have to.

OK boomer…

Apropos of nothing but the fact that I’m currently in the RV, but if anyone is dying to quit their life and start their own business I’ve got the thing.

There is an incredible need and growing demand for RV parks in winter destinations that stay open year round. Every ski area we go to has more and more RVs and camper vans parked there every year…and instead of places having overnight parking, most towns and ski areas are banning it.

Consequently, we find ourselves in Aspen with full black water tanks and literally no place to dump them within at least 100 miles. More and more people are taking their RVs on ski trips and there’s no place to service them.

Open a year-round campground in summit county and you’ll be full.

Sorry for the rant. Annoyed and stinky right now.

In a radio interview Thursday with WHAS in Louisville, Bevin defended his pardon of a man convicted of raping a 9-year-old girl. Because the girl’s hymen was intact, he said, the man should not have been found guilty.

Good. JFC.
