From my experience in other Bernie subs you’d get the same result. Chapo is more of a general progressive sub than a Bernie sub.
Chapo subreddit is a cesspool. Think Victor meant Chapo as in the hosts.
Yeah wtf is up with the chapo sub? Only stuff I’ve seen from them was trolling about killing slave owners but they do have a pretty horrible reputation. Seems odd they’d have such a toxic sub.
Yeah idk. It full on sucks though. Will once described it as “a constant source of embarrassment to me” and Matt added “It honestly makes me question my entire existence”.
51 votes instead of 60 allows a lot more stupid shit to get through (the house is that way and it’s already a total shit show way worse than the senate)

The Senate is already an anti-democratic institution that privileges the votes of those in smaller states over those in larger states. Making it 60 votes just makes matters worse in this regard. You’re absolutely begging to be held hostage by a minority of yokels.

A lot of the complaints about ‘toxicity’ are right-wing and centrist concern-trolling. The place is bad because it’s an echo-chamber, not because it’s anything like 4chan or whatever. The stupidpol split created a polarising effect and the “calling people stupid is ableist” tendency took a firmer hold of it than I’d have thought possible. The forum mostly hates the podcast now, amusingly.
The more I listen to Chapo the less I like them. While broadly correct (and I sympathize with the WAAF tone), they make no effort to educate themselves on complex issues and are particularly terrible on anything even tangentially related to business.

while it’s starting to look like a biden vs bernie election polls basically say “whoever beats trump I don’t really give a shit” which is roughly what 2004’s was before everyone in the lead around this timeframe before Iowa got clowned but the candidates are the reverse of those polls (the young dude is already up there in iowa vs low. The old centrist dude is already up there, the vermont dude with the low $ donations but high volume is up there in both of them so that’s the same)
Bernie gets beet red at times, maybe he’ll explode too but Dean was already done by his.

Because thats who the rich people want. The big donors to the DNC, and the corporations who control the media, and the people who give them lobbying jobs after they retire.
If there is a far left movement most of the current dem politicians will soon be out of a job.

I believe this is likely correct. I have relatives on my wife’s side who do it the other direction. They live in an always-Republican area and register as Republicans, even tho’ they vote Dem. That’s so they can vote in primaries for the least unhinged GOPer. You gotta know a bunch of repubes absolutely are doing that in key areas. It’s just trying to swing the scale even when you’re never voting for that party.
Wouldn’t surprise me if there are coordinated efforts on 4chan & the_donald to have people vote for biden in the primary since Trump doesn’t have a challenger in the primaries.
Chapo Reddit is all extremist talk but it’s the attitude that is necessary if any real change will be made in this world.
