More importantly, it’s not a genuine debate in good faith. This whole “How can you just dismiss someone without listening to their ideas” thing is becoming a trope of the right that even Don Jr. has mentioned, and it seems like basically everyone that’s said it is someone who’s never bothered listening to a differing opinion on anything. All the cries about free speech are really just them demanding their shitty views get pumped out to low information people they can win over.

Look… There will always be racists just like there will always be Trump supporters no matter what the guy does. But (I believe) the overwhelming majority that DO give them any merit are simply low information people. How do we disseminate proper information to their followers if we’re unwilling to debate them? I admit David Duke is an extreme example and probably shouldn’t be given any platform whatsoever. But when we start demanding that nutcases like Shapiro and Coulter can’t speak when invited by conservative students, we are doing their bidding imo and they then claim victory. Many of these people cite data that is factual while drawing all the wrong conclusions about what that data really means. I know of no other way to educate their audience than to debate them on the facts. And again, any reasonable person who watched Cenk and Duke can’t come away with any other conclusion than Cenk absolutely destroyed him intellectually and on merit

I admit to being an ignorant American. I’m sure you know more about my country than i do yours. But here, it’s not a matter of right v left anymore. It’s establishment v anti establishment. We are in the midst of a class warfare and the problem is, a lot of people don’t understand that. They still think it’s conservative values v liberal values. And yes, that’s an important front of the war that needs to be won too. But far more important in my mind is getting rid of corporate and political corruption. Only then can we start developing an equality based system that doesn’t shit on minorities and the poor

I said earlier that I don’t have answers, but a start would be for the MSM to stop booking them for honest debaters… Hence why the MSM is the establishment.

The respect our policemen get is remarkable tbh, even in bad times I see folks do the worst & as the police arrive most are so respectful its surreal, robbers stop, muggers stop, knife thugs put it down etc… There are exceptions but it’s the norm for a policeman to get total respect from a person just after getting jailed.
And its because in most instances they treat us with respect too.

Man this sucks, I have terrible migraines and I usually say 5. About six years ago, I went to the emergency room and told them 10 and that I might kill myself to get rid of the pain. I wasn’t joking, no idea how long I waited to be seen but it was at least an hour of me lying on the ground of the emergency room. (This may not have been the worst pain ever, I dunno, but I would have agreed to be shot in the leg in exchange for losing the headache.)
I wish they could see the relative pain scale and other idiots didn’t answer 10.
This incident was the only time I’ve ever taken narcotics for pain. I went completely loopy in the emergency room, don’t recall everything but I know I started yelling at them for giving me a used pee bottle when the bottle was just filled with my own pee.

To be clear, this was MANDATED by CMS, AKA medicare, when the idiots in charge decided that pain was “the fifth vital sign” and hospitals were threatened with loss of their medicare certificate if they didn’t comply - which led to people being tossed percocets like Skittles, because if patients complained and you lose your certificate, your hospital closes because no one can stay open without Medicare $$.
AND, since every drug seeking person in American has 10/10 pain for a paper cut, yeah. It’s stupid. But hate on the right people.

Might be at least partially cultural. Koreans are generally tough as hell in terms of pain. In the interest of not getting into a swamp, there are other groups that are hothouse flowers, for lack of a better term.

By far the #1 thing the media needs to do is to stop booking liars, proud racists and right-wing propagandists. Even if they self own or the host thinks they will embarrass them, their presence legitimizes them, period. Also they inevitably just yell over everyone without consequence.

Thanks for the perspective. I will adjust my hate accordingly. It’s just frustrating to be in the ER with an intestinal blockage or something and say I’m at a 4 out of 10, which is accurate based on my personal scale of experienced pain, only to have the low number change the urgency of care. And I never want to inflate the number because that feels worse in a boy who cried wolf kind of way. CMS will get my ire going forward though.
