Yeah, it’s bad enough to be a mckinsey bro without the cia insinuations. At least people are starting to remember that the cia are the bad guys.
They’ll turn on MSNBC and Michael Hayden and John Brennan will be back on their pedestals.
That stuff is fine, all the drug running CIA stuff is just absurd.
I think/thought the drug running stuff was all always tongue-in-cheek. The CIA probably still runs drugs in Afghanistan, sure, but still, tongue-in-cheek.
Yes, lets praise Pete’s childhood bully, that’s a great look. Bullying is bad…until it’s done to a guy YOU personally dislike for some weird reason.
And you seriously can’t tell that tweet from Lis is her being facetious? Congratulations on buying into the utter bullshit on woke twitter without digging any deeper.
You know, ima come out and say what I really think this stems from. Jealousy. It’s not “his turn.” He didn’t “do the time”. He’s too much of an overachiever. He’s that kid you hated in school because they were focused and ambitious and did everything they could to get the fuck OUT of HS and on to better things.
Hey guess what. When I was 10 I decided I wanted to fly the SR-71 so I figured out the best possible way that could happen and devoted my LIFE to getting there. I did the extracurriculars. I won the awards. I kissed up to my sleazy congressman so I could get the nomination I needed to get into the AFA. Sure life and AF regs kept me from my ultimate goal (I’m too short to be a pilot), but you bet your sweet asses I worked for it. I was bullied and hated too. I didn’t have a lot of friends or dates because I was too fucking busy for that. You would have hated me too.
There’s also a huge element of cynicism…like you jaded people can’t believe that there’s POSSIBLY any way this guy could be sincere. He MUST be lying. About something. Anything. We cannot take him at face value because no one DOES that anymore, right? No one actually WANTS to be a public servant…it’s gotta be for some nefarious reason.
I’ve got it! let’s excoriate Pete for a 2-year job fresh out of grad school that he left because it sucked! And then, when he has an NDA, let’s excoriate him more for being “afraid” to talk about what he did there! Then if he breaks that NDA, we’ll excoriate him for being a deal-breaker! Yeah! We got him now, boys! I’m sure you’re all so saintly that you’d risk financial ruin if you were in the same spot, amirite?
The conspiracy bullshit being pushed by the rose twitter crowd and jumped on by some of you here is absolutely laughable.
Also, congratulations for falling for every “oppo” drop that comes along. Here’s why oppo works: you want to hate a candidate, so confirmation bias kicks right in! So do no more research, take a tweet out of context, retweet lies, not even bother to actually read policies or interviews, it’s just easier than actually facing it down.
lololol Pete is now the victim of a childhood bully because someone flushed his eraser down the toilet in elementary school, cmon
His childhood bully? Really? You based that on what exactly? Sounds like the kid in his carpool?
I mean nobody was expecting you to do anything but go full attack dog here obviously… but this seems really over the top.
You might be right about me hating you as a kid though. I genuinely disliked the people who were checking all the boxes and excelling under the authorities. It was mostly envy at the time and I’ll happily own that.
And let’s be really clear, McKinsey is not an easy job to get and it’s not just something you get right out of grad school. You have to try hard to get it. It’s a very good job by every conventional standard and super super prestigious. Working there is absolutely a choice. Every single human being who has ever worked there had literally infinite options and picked it specifically. Saying anything else is super dishonest… which honestly when it comes to you and Pete is par for the course.
Pete is credibly running for president. If he wanted the NDA gone all he’d have to do is ask. He doesn’t want the NDA gone because he wants cover to never speak about what he did while at McKinsey. Probably because it was 1) boring and 2) would not play well with ordinary people because it involved fucking them over.
Ambition to fly the SR71 != ambition for power
Now someone who’s life ambition was to fly B52s, I’d be a little worried about.
What makes you think this guy bullied Pete? That’s out of left field.
Every single one of Pete’s critics ITT would be ecstatic if AOC were eligible and got the nom. Admittedly, I like the fact that she recognizes she is young and inexperienced and probably is not going to run for President in her mid 30s, even though she would be much more well qualified than Pete is.
There are plenty of politicians who I think are sincere. Obviously Bernie/AOC/Ilhan/Barbara Lee/etc., but also people who suck but are at least honest about it. Klobuchar is more sincere than Pete. Rand Paul is more sincere than Pete.
You keep saying this. Nobody would do that. You made it up.
LOL at the idea a fucking Rhodes Scholar would risk financial ruin by not working for McKinsey. Jesus Christ listen to yourself.
Can we just drop the idea that someone saying something you don’t agree with is a “lie”?
I cannot fathom when and how this came to be a thing, but when someone says something you disagree with it doesn’t mean they’re lying. Jesus christ.
Go back up and re-read that tweet thread that was posted in here from the girl who laughed at how nerdy and “ambitious” Pete was as a kid. That is a bully, and if you don’t understand that, then you maybe should grow some empathy.
um…the financial ruin would be when McKinsey sues Pete into the ground for breaking his NDA.
McKinsey probably would rather not spend a million to get paid $100k and make an enemy of someone who may someday be POTUS.
I don’t think he should break his NDA though unless he was really doing something awful.
Well if he was doing something awful he definitely will not be breaking it lol
The jealousy stuff is laughable. I wouldn’t trade my life or career or academic history for GOPete’s.
It’s really, really simple. His policies would suck, he seems like a shitty person who is hellbent on having as much power as possible and surrounds himself with people who proven to be exactly like that, and he is dangerously close to the presidency. So I want to do whatever it takes to stop someone like that when we have alternatives who are magnitudes better for our country and the world.

I won’t post the article that came out today that basically says everything I think every time I read this thread, but it’s out there, you might see it in the wild.
As for the NDA, Pete and the campaign has asked McKinsey a few times to release him from it…they’ve refused. And going after a guy’s 100k might not be value-added money-wise, but image-wise, you bet your ass they’ll sue him to prove a point.
McKinsey would waive the NDA in <5 seconds if Pete wanted them to. He doesn’t want them to, probably because he spent some time figuring out who to lay off or some other kind of banal evil at the banal evil factory.
lol, what leverage do you imagine some Midwest mayor has over them?
He’s running for president. They’d happily do it as a favor dude. He probably wasn’t doing anything that sensitive. He was only there for two years (I think??) and those deals are super super old now. They might have to make some phone calls to the clients first to get their OK, but that would take like 2 hours of work and the answer would be yes.
If the jokes get too pointed about running drugs for the CIA and what he was doing really was super boring expect to see the NDA get dropped and for us all to find out that all he was doing was standard management consulting… which will be so boring that nobody but us will care.
Except he does want them to, he’s asked and been refused (twice) and they are still working on it.
