That meme is sooooo last week, my dude.

Still fits here

Edit: my 13 and 11 year old nephews were using it over the weekend. It’s still in.

Think it’s because the American idea of the left is center right to the rest of the world.

I’ll get a reliable update on which way the winds are blowing from my stepsister at Christmas dinner. She has been consistently on point for years, going from Ron to Rand to Trump without missing a beat. Whoever the new hotness is going to be, she’ll be on board early.

Spoiler: she’s not ever getting off the Trump Train. Standard Ben Garrison-style Paul —> Trump convert is my diagnosis.

Yeah, I don’t think she’s ready to dump the Donald anytime soon, but she’ll have opinions about the Dem candidates too. She was quick out of the gate with intense dislike for Warren for reasons that were never clear, which is how I know who the dark money fears the most.

What Johnny said.

Bernie’s “open borders is a Koch idea” is bad.

Federal jobs guarantee is also bad.

Bernie lobbied for the F35 parts to be built in Vermont.

Bernie voted for the first Patriot Act in 2001.

I don’t think free college - government just paying for college addresses the problem in the right way. At least in California, public universities are already much less expensive than private universities, but are more selective than most (not all obviously). There are many colleges that cost $50k/year that are easier to get into than Cal State schools. The problem is more unmet demand than tuition at public schools and that means building universities and hiring instructors (cutting administration) more than eliminating tuition.

Bernie’s the only candidate I’m really confident means what he says though and what he says is good enough.

American centrism is basically a fiscally conservative, socially liberal ideology that tends to be supportive of existing political institutions, often wanting change only if it isn’t socially disruptive, and of a capitalist economy that corporations are comfortable with.

I tend to see ideologies arrayed in terms of their views of the size and scope of government. That’s why I have a massive hard-on for picking fights with libertarians, because they disagree with me the most on the fundamental question of the role of government. So, for me, a progressive would want to expand the welfare state, a conservative would want to tear it down, and a centrist would want to maintain it, but probably diminish it in the name of “fiscal responsibility”.

This is why posters attacked you and Buttigieg on this forum, because of attacks on Medicare for All that were perceived as coming from a centrist attitude of fiscal conservatism straight out of the Democratic Leadership Council playbook. A lot of the issues you cited don’t really differentiate progressive Democrats from centrist/moderate Democrats. What differentiates them the most is how they feel about the government’s role in the economy and the value of deficit spending.

Great ad. I’m salty that it’s Joe, but I’ve been asking for this for a while. The failed strategy that Hillary tried to implement was hammering Donald Trump for being a bigot and bad person. But most people who would vote for Donald Trump like that he’s a bigot and a bad person. They think it’s cool. Suck it libs, he’s not “politically correct.” If you want to demoralize them, laugh in their fucking faces.

excellent ad.

i have no problem w/ his statement. he didn’t call them all racists, he just said they are looking the other way on racism. Which is true. You can support Trump and not be a racist, but in doing so you are looking the other way on the obvious signs that he is a racist/bigot/homophobe/etc, basically saying that those qualities do not matter enough to make you change your vote. You can also support Trump and be a racist, which many of his supporters are.

oh i know, it’s extremely mild (pete’s signature salsa flavor). there are 327 million people in this country, i would be thrilled if there were ONLY 63 million racists.

every single person who voted for the “mexicans are rapists” and “total and complete shutdown of muslims entering the country” guy to be president has a xenophobic fear and hatred for people who look and act different than them. 0.0% of trump’s voters are merely looking the other way on racism, they took an action to make that guy president.

You forgot “lost a lawsuit due to being a racist hotel guy” and “picked a vp who wants to shock the gay away.”

Just woke up and came to post that Biden ad. Love it.

The Jobs guarantee sounds like a dystopian state expecting millions of people replaced by robots rake the sand for a super mediocre paycheck talking about the dignity of work.
