Who will run in 2020?

bloomberg actually gives the impression that he’s independent or centrist but as mayor of nyc he was very progressive. i think he would be pretty good. that being said, some crazy shit would have to transpire in the next 4 months for me to vote for him. he just has zero charisma tho lol i can’t imagine he’ll actually gain any meaningful support. like he makes george hw bush look dynamic.

Okay he is in favor of zero funding for post-secondary Ed? Funding state schools invariably leads to Rich Boys benefitting therefrom.

well it’s not great with blacks. Most of them are a lot more center politically than where bernie is. I don’t think it’s a serious problem like some other candidates have atm though.

Funny, the Ron Paul guys always swore their idea would help the poor. Up From Serfdom and all that.

There’s a serious flaw in let the rich do whatever they want and that’ll help make less poor people argument unless they think they’d just shoot them.

You don’t understand, Ron Paul will destroy crony capitalism and think of how much money you’ll have with zero taxes.

Don’t get me wrong, there are clear differences betwen Tulsi/Yang/Paul stans, but when you follow politics for a long time, you can’t help but notice patterns. I do think the Yangbangers have the strongest case to make out of the three, though perhaps that’s a low bar.

So that’s 1 or maybe 1.5 units of ire for skydiver.

I guess it’s good that we have at least one centrist around here, to keep this place from becoming a total Bernie circle-jerk.

You are starting to sound like Pon Raul

What are the specifics? My kneejerk reaction to jobs guarantee is revulsion. You get a lot of make-work or, if the private sector is involved, cronyism.

basically as the name implies. if u want a job, the fed govt will provide u with one. i am not convinced there will be enough jobs. if anything i would expect there to be less jobs because of automation (this is yangs argument and i tend to agree w/ that argument). however, i have not seen the data, so it’s all based on ‘feel’. Bernie’s own page says Green New Deal in itself will create 20m jobs

I’m not a centrist. I don’t think there’s any such thing. Unless it’s an average of the left vs. right scale of my positions on several different issues.

Like, I am all for scotus reform, going all-in to tackle climate change, eliminating the electoral college and the filibuster, granting DC and PR statehood, abortion as a right, separation of church and state, universal health care, and lowering costs of colleges and trade schools, reparations or at least deliberate correction of racist policies, amnesty for undocumented immigrants, reforming our system so that asylum seekers and others aren’t caged and separated from their families, taxing the wealthy at a pre-1980 rate…

If those goals are no longer “progressive” because I don’t endorse every bill written by the DSA as is, then congratulations, you’ve successfully gatekept me out of your “movement.”

I don’t have time to create memes, but if I did, Yang would be MSM and the guy on his knees would be you

What twisted person invites people to personally attack a user in a discussion thread about political candidates? Still 4 weeks left for someone to top worst post of the year, but I’m guessing you’ll hold up for the trophy

You’ll figure it out when you get older.

I mean, by the norms of this venue here any Dems to the left of Warren is a “centrist,” and I think there’s grumblings about Warren. There is for sure a bit of gatekeeping going on here.

“Jobs Guarantee” sounds absurd on its face to me, though I haven’t looked into it that much.
