Giving Noam a pass because heā€™s 137 years old, and itā€™s questionable to discuss Pete over Bernie if youā€™re doing a top 3, but Bernie had fallen into the teens/low teens before a recent uptrend. This is from April, first google link maybe there are more recent ones.

She wasnā€™t even president of her high school student government.

Omg I was gonna say, and even prepared to make an argument, for why Sanders should be the Ruy Lopez opening and then you go and ruin my fun! lol

He and Negreanu have talked via tweet, I bet heā€™s contacted him about this.

Lol. An article on Biden, Liz and Pete is absurd. The NYT is not ā€œall news articlesā€. Itā€™s like the paper of record and they didnā€™t just look at polling.

I didnā€™t read the article and I donā€™t know why they had Pete and not Bernie. I think itā€™s a leap to go from this omission alone to the thesis that Bernie will be ā€œdestroyedā€ because heā€™s constructing a mass popular movement that is beyond the pale, which the liberal elites know, and are attempting to suppress by not including him in a column. Of course, I donā€™t think Chomsky is making this leap from one omission, I assume he thinks thereā€™s an across the board pattern of undercovering Bernie and/or aspects of his campaign. I only offer that my sense of Bernieā€™s coverage is that it has been reasonably close to how he is polling, and out of laziness I cited the first google result I saw to show that he was 2nd in news articles when he was 2nd in polling.

To be completely honest, I just wanted to say Chomsky is 137 years old and went from there.

The NYT to some extent and WaPo to a greater extent are very anti - not just Bernie, but anyone and anything that arenā€™t like that Acela Corridor wealthy liberal smart person wearing the right expensive suit who went to the right college and right prep school. And they really hate Bernie.

The polls purposely undersell Bernie because his base isnā€™t dumb enough to have a landline phone in 2019.

And because they are afraid.

I get the 3 free articles a month and then just see the headlines, so if thereā€™s hatred there I donā€™t see it because I literally donā€™t read it. You can pretty easily convince me that there is a bias there, especially now that I know, and I didnā€™t before, that Warrenā€™s base and Bernieā€™s base turn out to be pretty different from one another (despite seemingly very similar policy positions), tracking the class/education divide youā€™re talking about. Still, by volume, and this is an impression that I get from news aggregation sites, twitters, cable news, podcasts, stuff linked here, Bernie has gotten a reasonably fair amount of coverage, whether it has been too negative from NYT/WaPo I defer to you.

That I just canā€™t get on board with, I think there are some polls that have addressed and corrected for the landline bias, and Iā€™m not aware that they show Bernie doing any better. Even still, afraid? Is Bernie going to socialize the polling industry or something?

His base is dumb enough to post this though.

Do you guys remember the polls way back in the election of 2016 between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton?

Yeah? The national polls were very accurate, state polls less so but still ok, and apparently terrible election models took a bath.
