Who will run in 2020?

And when the robots need helpers they hire a bunch of 70 year olds who live in old vans. And they basically run those employees like robots.

And the dispatching of those 70 year olds in vans is fully automated. And the payment of them. And literally every other aspect of it. And as soon as it is technically feasible they will replace the 70 year olds with robots as well. Which honestly will be a good thing. There are few groups of workers treated as badly as drivers.

Even the truck drivers I work with who are at the absolutely peak of the truck driving occupation generally are treated pretty poorly and paid pretty poorly for what they actually do. It’s the only part of my job that makes me honestly feel a little bit dirty.

But the next major question will be what to do with the millions of middle class people who used to drive vehicles for a living. Telling them to find one of the jobs of the future won’t cut it. Most of them are older and have zero interest in being retrained.

I’m not talking about drivers. The 70 year olds are walking 13miles a day scanning and sorting stuff and dodging robots. I just finished a book that covered this - see the what are you reading thread.

Automating back office employees has massive amounts of buyin with F500 executives, just saying. Furthermore there are lots of 3rd party firms gearing up to do the work for them. I already deal with a F500 company that has moved settling all freight invoices to a 3rd party transportation management system provider that probably eliminated a couple of hundred people all by itself. That part of it is moving fast at least. It’s just not that hard to automate book keeping and accounts payable/receivable.

Do you know who else supported ISIS in Syria?

How Assad Helped Create ISIS to Win in Syria and Got Away With the Crime of the Century

While we’re reading stuff

So yeah, maybe there was a chance of a unified, moderate, democratic opposition to Assad if it weren’t for all those ISIS jihadists, except Assad helped create and sustain ISIS for the specific purpose so that the moderate opposition would be overrun by extremists. Then of course once the flood gates opened you had ISIS/ISIS wannabes coming from all over the world.

Consultants that would make a lot of money providing campaign consulting services?

Maybe too much emphasis was placed on wanting the opposition to be moderate.

I’m also extremely skeptical that we’ll see widespread autonomous trucking any time soon. My limited experience in that field suggested that the actual driving was the easiest part of that job, while keeping up with maintenance and following regulations was a much bigger deal. So maybe we’ll get to a point where the truck is doing the actual driving within 10-20 years, but I imagine there will be an employee or two riding in those trucks, except in a handful of unique situations.

Nah, the time for incrementalism is over. We need massive changes now.

What fresh hell

Haha that is great. I’m sure everyone on this forum will admit they were wrong and praise Bernie for speaking the truth as usual.

This comes after Biden denounced President Trump calling the impeachment inquiry against him as a “lynching,” and said the impeachment process was a “part of our Constitution.” “Our country has a dark, shameful history with lynching, and to even think about making this comparison is abhorrent. It’s despicable,” Biden said Tuesday.

According to CNN, Biden said the impeachment proceedings against Clinton could be seen as a “partisan lynching” in an Oct. 1998 appearance on the cable news network. “Even if the President should be impeached, history is going to question whether or not this was just a partisan lynching or whether or not it was something that in fact met the standard, the very high bar, that was set by the founders as to what constituted an impeachable offense,” Biden said.

Yeah, let’s get Joe off the stage.

I guess a lot of Dem primary voters still aren’t paying attention but it will boggle my mind if Biden is still polling well heading into Iowa and New Hampshire. It’s not as if there aren’t several other far more competent candidates for the Dem centrists to get behind.

Yea.

Biden 34%
Warren 19%
Sanders 16%

That CNN poll better be an outlier.
