Yeah I see, that would never work because SoCiALiSm but in theory it could be be the best way to smooth over a big transition. I’d argue that blowing it up and starting over with a nice deep cleaning will be more efficient but who knows.
Would it be good to talk about in theory as a way of moving the Overton window or does it just give Republicans too much ammo to attack Democrats as the party of crazy socialists?
It comes down to some wonk shit. They are different means to the same end. I just hope Bernie when he wrote the damn bill did his research and picked the “best” path to universal coverage. It’s incredibly complex so I cant expect anyone to understand all possible ramifications. I certainly don’t know but I think it’s fine to bring up questions about what is the best procedure, regardless of how it’s perceived. It’s all SoCiALiSm anyway.
lol speaking of socialism…Out canvassing this morning at the Hillcrest farmer’s market, we met an…interesting (ahem) lady who informed us that there’s no way any of the candidates can beat the socialists. That the socialists have been in power since the 1800’s and they have the keys to the mints so they just print money and hand it out. That’s how they control the government. Also, the socialists were responsible for getting women the right to vote (I guess she thought that was bad) by just printing money offshore and bringing bad people into power that changed the way everything worked in the 1920s. She hates Trump but doesn’t see how anyone can win because he’s the top socialist.
There was more but tbh I spent most of the time running through various conversation exit strategies in my head, so I missed some of the details.
It was definitely the most batshit sOcIaLiSm conspiracy I’d ever heard.
Big if true
Since I’m not a big Pete fan it probably seems like I don’t have much positive to say to you, but I do appreciate you putting in work in the real world even if I’d rather you put in that work for Warren! I always go out of my way to be nice to people canvassing for candidates even if I don’t like their candidate because I appreciate the work they’re doing and I realize they have to have some very unpleasant conversations like that one. Even for Republican campaigns I just say something like sorry but I don’t support Republicans.
Honestly, it’s kind of weird. The only Bernie/Warren people who seem to hate Pete are on the internet. Out in the real world, when we are canvassing in the same place, it is always good conversation and mutual support.
Twitter and this board are not representative of real life, I just hope you guys keep that in mind. I have to remind myself of that if I’ve been online too long, tbh.
ATM, Warren is my #1 and Pete is my #2, so I get it.
Warren/Pete is my dream ticket.
I’m an awful person like you and don’t hate Shifty GOPete.
That lady makes socialists sound awesome
I’m glad we had a little bit of Tulsi hate to break up the regular stream of Pete hate.
She’s half-right. He’s the top national socialist.
I don’t hate Pete, but to be honest, I really can’t get behind him in the primaries because I am super behind the idea of causing mental harm to Donald Trump by making him lose an election to a woman. And, sure, maybe Trump has some transgressive notion that a gay man is pretty much a woman, but that just doesn’t do it to me.
This is actually something that’s crossed my mind before. It’s not a factor for me in my ultimate decision, but I love the idea if him having to hand the federal government over to Elizabeth.
Esp given the Pocahontas stuff
20% of it roughly.
My preferences for a candidate go something like this:
- A woman who makes Trump feel humiliated (and as a bonus, maybe makes Hillary feel sad that someone else gets to be the first female president)
- Supports class warfare
- Not Tulsi
what’s the rest?
Dropping costs on healthcare services, cutting admin costs, cutting pharma costs, literally tens of thousands of different line items.
Single payer is about leverage.
I don’t think your voting priorities should be about humiliating Trump.
Well, technically, I suppose it’s about humiliating Trump and his supporters. I don’t just want to win, I want to crush their spirits and drive them into mass panic.
I think I just realized one of the main reasons why M4A supporters think it’s so great and I’ve been kinda skeptical. A world where M4A can pass is also a world where you have the votes / political power to
-eliminate the Hyde Amendment and other types of “conscience” provisions
-
authorize the government run healthcare plan(s) to negotiate prescription drug prices
-
aggressively enforce anti-trust laws against hospital groups or other provider associations that tried to leverage monopolistic power to negotiate high fees.
