No, we need media that makes progressive issues matter to people, that pushes a progressive agenda, that feeds people a worldview where that agenda matters more.
I guess the best possible scenario would be netflix buying up local stations then licensing out Hasan, wolf and other type comedians for content or just porting existing stuff.
Obviously never happening.
The ‘in’ thing right now is for corporations to appear to be socially conscious. These are very important issues to progressives and I think they aren’t harming anything by pushing this (I have a hard time believing this is meaningful ‘reform’ from the corporations and not just lip service). It’s more that it’s very hard to program 24 hours a day of progressive ideas that people will watch. If it could make money, it would be being done because all the best creatives are on the progressive side. There is no shortage of creative talent or ability to make this happen. The shortage is money and interest from the viewing public.
My stomach churns on propaganda from the left or right, because propaganda is almost always used for bad purposes (the truth isn’t good enough to show why something is good). It’s an end justifies the means sort of thing and I don’t want to provide fuel to the fire of ridiculous conspiracy theories going on in this country that have way too much attention as is.
Oh, and I do believe one day Netflix will have some kind of terrestrial station. Don’t rule out your idea.

The funny thing is I’m not even sure Peter Baker realizes he’s an access journalist. MAGA Haberman certainly gets it. When you see Baker talk about ‘his day’, you can just see him being a sponge saying, ‘okay, okay, okay, now how do I write this so that it doesn’t look like I think the president’s an idiot or a monster even though I know he is?’.
He’s doing an awful job of normalizing a bad guy, but I think he’s truly attempting to use old school correct journalistic practices to eliminate bias. It’s unfortunate because right now the truth is biased very far away from Trump and Baker keeps trying to remove that bias.
