Can’t the cab companies just crush in these markets by adopting an app of their own? Like 95%+ of the problems with cabs come from the absence of a real time mobile compatible system for finding and tracking the status of your cab.
WTF kind of protest is this even supposed to be? Oh noes, this guy isnt hiring Ivy League grads anymore, what a blow for progressives.

This sort of taxi app has existed in China for almost as long as China’s version of Uber has been around.
Hard to believe that doesn’t exist in US cities.
There are lots of weird taxi cab laws in the US. I think most are to avoid liability for accidents. I remember learning in law school, that each cab is an independent LLC. Of course the same few people owned most of the LLCs, but they were set up so you can only go after the LLC, which of course has no assets and carry the minimum insurance allowed.
It’s possible that if they operated under a single app, it might eliminate the legal fiction that they are separate entities.

It’s a tacit acknowledgement that the ideological battle in the US is not really between liberals and conservatives anymore it’s between people that believe in reality and people that are proudly ignorant. Ivy League schools are anti-progressive, but they are ostensibly still institutes of knowledge and learning so the fascists will see them as in the Enemy Camp.

The intended audience isn’t progressives or universities, it’s like-minded boomer parents others who have kids thinking about college. I think they are trying to undermine IV universities.
I think some of them tried but it’s the same baloney, you request a ride and maybe they show up 3 hours later, if at all. Slapping an app on it doesn’t fix a broken culture
