I honestly tried to immerse myself in all this stuff, efforting to understand.
so I gave extra credit for some different elements willy nilly. this is no meritocracy, fam, when u do not distinguish yourself like the winner of this category did

Just these last couple weeks and for the 1st time in forever, I tuned in to FM rock radio while in my van, instead of a complete AM diet.
This song is kinda what you find on rock radio, a more recent inclusion of what’s to be found anyway. It doesn’t do much for me. The video was interesting, but the music and lyrics are sophomoric.
Bathed in flames we held the brand
Uncurled the fingers in your hand
Pressed into the flesh like sand
Now do you understand?
No.
We never had a choice
This world is too much noise
this is better, but the overall product is super generic. no juice. no originality.

nice lil jazz motif going on, and smooth delivery of knowledge. Not overwhelmed, but I can dig. Not much to expound on.
Johnny has got his groove on.

Great video. The song is aiiight. I dig the crescendo late and them all singing together. The lead vocalist has this affectation to his voice, that is ok, I guess. I like the message of love thy neighbor. I don’t understand the meaning of the lyrics late in the song, and that is ok lmao
Hi, I’m Stuart Smalley
That ending is really good, listening to it again now. Oh yeah.
17 songs is a lot. Did it feel like a lot to judge? I guess splitting with kony helps.
I can’t believe the whining of someone who made the top half. i think everybody should take that into account when marking JT in the future and be way more harsh on him!
Whining when finishing in any place but 1st is a time honored tradition dating back all the way to October.

There’s definitely some Billy Idol ‘Eyes Without a Face’ going on here, amirite???!
I’m ambivalent about the brightness of those ringing tones recurring throughout, and after the Billy Idol-esque verse, the melody is a bit predictable. Repetition of the last refrain saves it.
Can confirm.
13 points to MimosaDef for When You Were Mine by Prince
Early Prince that I had not previously heard. From 1980 iirc.
Very retro, but Prince brings the silly-ass lyrics with his combination of musical influences from that time, almost 40 years ago
I think I’ll make these guys’ day, month, year and lifetime and tell them that they beat out Jimi Hendrix.
jimi is a cosmic greatness, and u went and chose a moment when he’s goofing off
It’s still a fine glimpse at the man, but come on, jackass
I thought I’d get points for finding something by Jimi freaking Hendrix that you might not have seen.
zomg I have almost made teh podium
Same! And mine is a song that you won’t like, based on your walrus
To think I was worried skydiver would choose the same song and I’d have to share the podium.

The Pumpkins are like The Cure for me, 'cept you substitute 80s new wave for grunge alternative rock. With Peers like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and many others, you gotsta come correct.
I always dug Bullet With Butterfly Wings, Zero and a few others, but generally they do not rank for me. I also never much liked what I knew of Billy Corgan away from the actual music – this tormented genius or some such shite.
This song is nice and airy and simple. It kicks a bit of ass. I like the end when they get fuckin weird… like an brief homage to one of Billy’s favorite bands Rush.
Suggests more than the rudiments from a band I believed to be limited by vocabulary
I do love that song, though. One of my top 5 Cure songs, for sure
ETA: woohoo podium out of the gate!
When women spent a lot of time together in a forum their Walruses DO tend to sync up.
