Walrus Grab Bag 4 Reveal

Some not bad guitar bits ruined by singing and generic ambient nonsense.

Rick Astley wouldn’t even nodium my category.

What the hell is this? And why didn’t this win this category?

Barnes and Barnes was a novelty music act, half of which was Bill Mumy, known for playing Will Robinson on Lost in Space and Lennier on Babylon 5.

Thus ends the nodium.

Rev Gary Davis - Children Of Zion

LouisCyphre troll for religious reference. A Song I really like. Louis would not.

I can see this song garnering a grudging admission that it’s a good song, but not Louis’ thing. I struggled with whether being a better song should place it above the Jason Mraz song.

Well, I’m out.

eta: this was my entry

I’m surprised you’ve never heard that before.

Wasn’t mine, btw.

Good read. Totally uninteresting song and it would have finished low but only because others didn’t try to actively troll me.

Three people once submitted Eleanor Rigby in the same category but they were not the same song.

Woah. Nice.

Not really. More interesting than the other one though but that’s not saying much. I don’t like blues or gospel so this was never going to do well.

Finbar and Eddie Furey - The Curragh Of Kildare

Trolling Nicholasp27, I’m pretty sure he’d hate this droney Celtic ballad. It’s as authentic and awesome as it gets, though.

This was the hardest song for me to place, partly because I am choosing to reveal before Nicholas, so I have less of an idea of how this would be judged. It doesn’t feel like either a failure or a great success, so somewhere in the middle of the pack feels right.

I’ll take it, my problem here was submitting a song I love. I hold out hope that Nick would have correctly loved it too.

The twist will be that the reveal was done backwards and the nodium is actually the podium.

The Minutemen - Bob Dylan Wrote Propaganda Songs

Pyat’s folk-inspired category. I do actually love minutemen and think it would get more than one point, but a good joke is a good joke.

Probably not what Pyat meant by folk and I thought about dinging it more for a weak category fit. The joke is funny, though.

I would lol about it but I did worse on pyat’s actual category.

I can see how it’s arguable this is ‘inspired by’ folk music, but I think I would have put it last based on category fit. I do like The Minutemen though.

So i should have won NBZ’s category

Honestly, I had a hard time placing the songs outside of the top four and bottom three and the middle of the pack kind of defaulted to how much I liked the song personally.

I thought ignoring the category was supposed to be bad in NBZ’s one. But maybe up is really down, and so it’s back to up again.
