Thanks for the reveal and thanks for forcing me to listen to some great music again that was gathering dust in my digital collection. Thanks for the 12 points. I know I have not come up with the most original submission but top20 albums was kind of a tough category when 99%+ of what I listen to is disqualified right out of the gate.
every category i’m starting off certain i will nodium and if i somehow make it through the first 4 songs I’m sure i will win it.
sure way to be constantly disappointed.
Unless I forgot my submission, I got podium!!!
A lot of good 90s music in this walrus so far…good choice of category
I’ll take 3rd
I also love Dam at Otter Creek, TBD and Pillar of Davidson but went with a safer fan favorite
I’ve seen them 16 times in concert, most recently with Bush in 2019.
I always expect Live songs to age poorly but they don’t really and this one was good. Probably seities as he’s submitted them before.
Do we know who submitted the first place song yet? I’ve heard a couple of songs by Rex Orange County before, they’re pretty catchy but also surprised his album was no. 3. This one’s a banger imo.
I liked this comment but damn 16 times is insane. My guess was wrong so now I’m going to say seities won.
my guess was swanky (even though i didn’t like the song)
I am missing one, likely at Lakewood Amphitheater one other time, but it eludes me right now
Atlanta Roxy Secret Samadhi tour with Morcheeba (no clue who that is, but remember the name)
Atlanta music midtown x2 (2nd time Chevelle was late getting there so Live being last got a short set since Chevelle ate 30 mins into Live’s time) (first time Fuel played right before them and were kind enough to not go over time)
Atlanta Rockfest
Atlanta Lakewood Amphitheater w/Counting Crows
Atlanta Lakewood Amphitheater w/Garbage
Orlando w/K’s Choice
Champaign Illinois Distance to Here tour (I was at UChicago as freshman so took train down to Champaign to see show then stayed up all night at their school library until Amtrak went back to Chicago in the morning and went straight to class when I got back)
LA House of Blues
Atlanta Omni acoustic show with Jane’s Addiction (actually this was after Omni torn down so would be State Farm Arena)
Atlanta Tabernacle
Atlanta Centennial Park Summer On the Bricks
Atlanta Variety Playhouse
Atlanta Variety Playhouse just Ed 20 year Throwing Copper reunion
Atlanta Chastain Park w/Bush
I wasnt even thinking about it, but I wouldnt be surprised if Nano submitted the winner
Saw Audisolave at the Tabernacle. Excellent show.
Oh good call I already forgot she was in the competition. Her Billy Joel comments threw me off the scent.
Yeah it’s a nice small venue with good acoustics
I guess I was being too cute. #1 was mine.
Sorry, a mean and selfish person interrupted my treadmill-walrus time. Audioslave was mine.
harsh
CanadaMatt? More like I Canada understand what the hell you were thinking picking this last!
Thank you for doing my dirty work
You think that’s harsh, here is the first entry of my second ever category reveal
"Let me just paste my stream of consciousness notes for 15th place.
“holy fuck, what is this? Why are my ears bleeding. Why does it sound like a middle age woman is trying to sing like a 5 year old? What is happening?”
In 15th place, scoring 1. Pyantinski - Surfin USA by Melt Banana
“Enjoy”?"
And then there was this gem…
So you remember how I said that there was only one song I didnt like out of this bunch?
Lets do a double shot to kick off the reveal.
Category 5: A song that really really really makes me want to sing along even though I’m in a quiet office.
In 15th place, scoring 1 (1,1) Jalfrezi - Vitamin C by CAN
Ege Bamyasi (Remastered)
Ege Bamyasi (Remastered), an album by CAN on Spotify
In 14th place, scoring 2 (2,1) Smrk4 - Center of the Sun by Conjure One
Sooooooooo, yeah.
No.
nononononononononono.
Sigh.
And then of course there was the infamous “Comedy” category
"Hey, ya’ll remember how i said this next category would be less fun than the previous?
Yeah, its worse than that.
A lot worse.
Like, im having trouble determining a podium, let alone a winner.
There is nothing Melt Banana worthy, but you all almost universly have determined that the only people who make comedy music are strange western europeans with terrible accents.
Reveal to come later. I must sufficiently drink to reveal this category."
Alright here goes nothing.
In 15th place, scoring 1 - Suzzer99 Pico and Sepulveda by The Frobidden zone? Maybe?
Is this catchy?
I guess, but not in any way that makes me want to dance at all.
Is this funny?
Um
In 14th place, scoring 2 - Pauwl - Cheap Beer by FIDLAR
FIDLAR - “Cheap Beer” (Official Video)
You know how I put Swedish death metal in the first number one slot in this game?
This is what I imagine Swedish death metal sounds like to everyone else.
What the hell is this? Is it funny? It might be… I can’t make out a single word they say though, and after the first ten seconds I really don’t want to.
In 13th place, scoring 3 - King of NY - Howard Stern inducting Bon Jovi into the rock and roll hall of fame by singing Wanted Dead or Alive
Howard Stern Rock Hall Induction Bon Jovi Cleveland 2018
In 12th place - Scoring 4 - 6ix - Flashback by Laurent Garnier
Laurent Garnier “Flashback” video directed by Quentin Dupieux.
The very best thing I can say about this compared to the first three is that “This is a song”
Aside from that
In 11th place, scoring 5 - Rivaldo - Suck a Caribou’s Ass by Wesley Wills
In conclusion, you got off EASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSYYYYYYYY
I suck balls at math. My assumption is that the decimals are factoring in 13 points in a single round rather than the usual 12 in some way.
I feel for NBZ. I did what I could but his category hasn’t gone yet and he’s still in dead last.
Yeah, I did it as ‘X/13 * 12’, which I think is the best way but open to any suggestions.
