The next 8 songs are all songs that I would (or do) play more often than a single listen.

Oh, I see. I forgot you semi-dropped out.

Ouch.

Really thought I’d do a lot better with that one.

I have absolutely no problem with a more intense band slowing things down and going in a different direction. One of my favorite Slipknot songs is Vermillion pt 2. One of my favorite Sevendust songs is Angel’s Son.

I think the biggest problem I have with this song is that Serj’s voice really just loans itself SO much better to his usual style of music than this. Its not bad. I enjoy it, but compared to the majority of the rest of their catalogue, it just feels a bit empty and missing something.

Yeah I feel bad about this one, because I really do like Garbage and they are a really important band in the history of female fronted rock I love.

I am not sure if this is my submission or not. I prefer to live in ignorance for now so I am not going to check. Anyway, Garbage is great. Shirley Manson is great.

Fun wrinkle!

Kind of thought this was you. This song is pretty zzzz imo, sorry. Your song from nano’s category was great if it’s any consolation

So it wasn‘t mine but I am certain I have at least considered that one.

Any chance I can give the next 6 a tie for 2nd place?

You guys didn’t make this easy. I know and enjoy all of the remaining songs, save one, which is going to be my top pick.

You know who makes great music? John Popper and Blues Traveler.

When first listening to this, I was surprised that it was never released as a single. Then I looked at the three major singles off the album. Yeah, they made the right choice with Run-Around, Hook, and The Mountains Win Again. Compared to those three, this is a clear number 4. I still really really enjoyed it though. Its slightly too long, and the 30 seconds of scatting near the end are unnecessary and draw the song out just long enough that this ends up here.

FWIW I like it despite not being like other SOAD tracks.

Serj is only doing background vocals on this one.

Huh… you’re right.

Damn, his voice comes through very clearly. I honestly thought he was lead until you pointed it out.

So the submitter mentioned that this song is very unlike the Pumpkins and is a bit surprising in that way, obviously forgetting that their likely biggest all time hit, “Tonight, Tonight” takes a similar slow tone as this.

This is fantastic, obviously, and I wore out this CD and tore it to shit in my discman while rollerblading (I will gladly accept my award for “most 90’s sentence every to be written on the internet,” please)

As a younger, dumber version of me, I would often skip past this song, but in my later years, it would be one of the first I listened to.

No shade at all here, great song and deserves a better spot, but Walrus is srs bzn.

This kills my hopes of a feast or famine line.

:+1:

For me it was a cassette and a walkman. As it happens I have relistened to the album for the first in many years when looking for a song for your category. I didn’t really like any of the non-singles for it and I am always weary of slow songs. You better be right with a slow song or the host gets bored and it‘s nodium time.

I was all prepared to disqualify this because it HAD to have been released as a single. I have a feeling being California boys that my local station must have played some non-single released tracks on the air at certain times, because I remember hearing this song a lot.

Its awesome, full stop. “It wasn’t about Rodney King, bout this fucked up situation and these fucked up police.” The more things change, the more they stay the same. Sublime is one of those bands along with Alice in Chains that it always hits me every time I heard them how shitty it was to lose them so early. What could have been.

This is a good point, unless the category is specifically looking for it, I try to stay away from anything too slow.
