Walrus Grab Bag 4 Reveal

So while we wait for some arrivals, I am going to kick it off with the nodium and then take a short break to ferry my child to a lunch venue.

In last place, scoring 1 point.

Oh Kendrick, I’m sorry.

I just don’t like your stuff in general. I can see the talent, and I get it, but… I just don’t enjoy it personally.

And this song in particular… YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

Seriously, Smrk, don’t fall off the treadmill.

On the plus side, this helped me get through my second vaccine by knocking me out cold on my recovery day.

Wait. Smrk, please tell us a little bit about choosing Space Jam for yuv. I just noticed that.

I’ve always wanted to like Arcade Fire. I feel like I lose major cred by not being into them at all. Alas, its never been my jam, and this song doesn’t do it for me. No real surprise that they didn’t release this as a single. Its certainly more of a tune and more pleasant than the Lamar song, but I just couldn’t get into it for more than about 30 seconds. Certainly not almost 5 minutes.

I have a feeling the next submitter thought they were going to score a lot higher than they are about to.

For that, I apologize.

the category was pick a song with 10m views.
smrk picked a song with 6m views.

i asked that he’d pick a new one.
the first one was ‘basketball’ which is also a homage to our TopShot days of past
he had no time or energy to pick a real song, so he picked the only other basketball-theme song he could think of.

  1. Finish walrus
  2. Everything else

Arcade Fire song is quite good imo, unlucky.

I’m adding a lot of songs to my playlist from this Walrus and I think it’s short-circuiting my youtube algorithm. Good.

Alright lets do this.

Hello super basic REM formula song. Simple beat, strangeish lyrics, Stipe sounding like Stipe.

I don’t know why this particular song scored so much lower than the last REM song, but I did not get into this one hardly at all.

So, Garbage is really interesting to me. I chose this category because I really do tend to prefer non-singles to singles off of major albums. Garbage is one of the exceptions to that rule. I really really really dig almost all of their major singles, and have been hard pressed to find any non-radio play singles by Garbage that I enjoy to anywhere near the level I do their singles. This is an unfortunate casualty, because I really like the band and Shirley Manson, but I just dont really dig this song.

Man, I forgot about Garbage.

BTW @CanadaMatt3004 I think you are off by one on the places. There are only 12 submissions if I am not mistaken.

In 9th place, scoring 5.

Arctic Monkeys is another band that I feel I lose major cred (not that I have much of any to begin with) by not really enjoying. This song is actually on the higher end of songs that I have heard from them in terms of overall enjoyment. Its got a killer guitar lick near then end, and the rest of the song is pleasant and interesting enough, but I’m unlikely to go back to this often.
