As is tradition, we take a pause before the podium.
Here’s some Turkish folk music while you wait.

Higher than I expected tbh
Wat. Looking now…
I’m in bed so can’t play Dirty Dolap in case the wife gets the wrong idea, perish the thought.
You still in the running?
Self jinxing prevents me from answering that question, which obviously I just have, oh shit.
This is category 4, right? Has your entry been revealed?
In 3rd place with 12 points

"The In A Silent Way album needs to be listened to in one go really and doesn’t have tracks in the conventional sense, but for the purpose of this walrus I’ll submit the first “track”. McLaughlin has never sounded better imo, a wonderful guitarist providing a perfect counterpart to Miles’s beautifully sad trumpet.
If you like it you’ll probably listen to the rest of the album as each track flows through to the next."
Drunk First Impression
Miles Davis. Ok, show some fucking respect. Don’t be a dick. Wasn’t he a trumpet player? Fuck I don’t know. Listen to the whole album tomorrow, this is good.
Review
This is the kind of jazz I’ve been meaning to learn more about. Jazz: America’s music. The only jazz I have is a Chet Baker album I got after watching a movie about his life. I like watching documentaries and biopics about artists. It really helps to understand their music and appreciate it more. I wanna get A Love Supreme and get into Coltrane too. When I say I don’t like jazz, I mean more like the nerdy music geek stuff. “Oh, when he ends on the G note, it sounds good because that’s the minor third of the E7#9 chord being played”. I know I just trashed the Hendrix chord. I just used that as an example because it’s a jazzy chord I know and an interval that I’m familiar with. I just never got good enough at music theory to appreciate more advanced stuff. Maybe as I get older I will.
This song is very cool. I checked out the whole album. I could listen to this all day. It’s jazz, but it has a good groove and it’s more atmospheric. Some dissonance. Strange sorta clashing tones. Moody in places. Awesome. This gets a bump for inspiring me to listen to more jazz, which I have neglected. This also gets a bump for making me want to learn more music theory and try harder at appreciating music I consider difficult.
Self jinx success!
I originally picked The Ecstasy of Gold but edited my list to choose a different one before submission. That one has not been revealed yet.
I mean, if we’re allowed to submit that, what’s the point?
(Obviously it (Miles) is amazing)
I may have flucked this up. But if you’re still in the running for a win you’re welcome…
You’re very philosophical tonight.
Anyway it was the soundtrack from a short super 8 film I made with a mate when we were teenagers.
Allegedly
I was middle of the pack before this round. Doubt a 5th place finish in this round will do much.
Also, my final round pick is not great given that the round is dedicated to pandering to Pauwl.
I guess I’m several drinks in. That and Filles de Kilimanjaro are the best of the best, I think.
You were Ry Cooder, right?
If so, you got 4th!
I think I see what happened.
You made the change in the DM but the system didn’t tell me you modified the OP so I didn’t notice it. Let that be a lesson, kids. Make sure to follow up on any changes.
No. Perhaps somebody else picked Ecstasy of Gold and mine has yet to be revealed!
Probably not, but it’s possible.
Pretty sure that guy’s singing in the pre-play image.
