Pretty sure I’m fubared on finding a PS5 before january. Walmart announced they were going on sale at 2pm, site blew up, 5 minutes later out of stock. PS direct had 10 minutes of sales open while everyone sat in a queue, gone. There’s not even any games lol…
After playing Sekiro and Ghost of Tsushima, this new Assassin’s Creed Valhalla just feels like a poorly done imitation. I get that Assassin’s Creed kinda started the genre, but they have been massively surpassed IMO.
I enjoyed Odyssey more than Valhalla so far. I find the fighting in Valhalla to be clunky. You can parry and stuff but it’s kinda crap when you’re in these giant brawls. And the depressing winter setting (especially at night) so far isn’t doing it for me. I’m sure the world will expand a lot more once I get the starting stuff done. It also doesn’t help that I just finished Watchdogs: Legion and this axe and shield stuff seems pretty boring. I’ve been kinda luke warm on these Assassin’s Creed games for a while. They’re kinda fun and the story/legend is neat, but the gameplay isn’t really good stealth or sword fighting.
eta: I’m sure I’ll get OCD over this game in a few days.

They’ve released a TON of AC games over the last 10 years and I don’t think they’ve improved linearly, seems like their quality is just basically luck of the draw based on whatever ideas they came up with for the latest iteration and also may come down to personal preference. I played a lot of II but never finished it, started IV and got stuck on a mission and quit, and started Odyssey but it was a little slow for me; hoping to get back to it when I have a little more free time.
Any thoughts on the Oculus 2?

Yeah, I like the game but its politics are so toxic. Reagan’s CIA death squads, WTF. And a generation of Zoomers is going to vaguely remember Reagan as some kind of badass toughguy.
Honestly, though, I’ve been so addicted to replaying Subnautica and listening to podcasts that I barely have had any time to play the new CoD.

Hard to say. There’s a drop on walmart.com at 9pm on wednesday I’m gonna multi-computer and phone it to try to snag one with the wife doing it too. Demand is ridiculous of course. I also got some chrome extension to ping sites for me called “octoshop” we’ll see if that does anything. I mean I’m sure there’s some chance of getting one but its gotta be low.
I saw an open box on Best Buy for $475. Apparently Kohl’s is soul crushing a bunch of people by canceling their orders lol.
CoD has long been a psyops-ish recruiting campaign of young people into the military. Surprised people are just learning it has right-wing leaning politics.

The Citations Needed podcast had a great episode on the long relationship between the military and Hollywood. Gaming is obviously the next frontier in recruiting kids.
