Rocket League is now free to play on Epic. You get a $10 coupon if you download the game before Oct 23rd. (I got the coupon just for adding it to my library without actually downloading) Coupon expires Nov. 1st. Minimum purchase $14.99.

God theyāre gonna ruin this game, I know it. I hope not but what Iāve seen so far definitely hasnt been any improvement, what they did to the skins was an actual crime.
What did they do? I donāt follow the economy/cosmetic stuff. Also donāt think Iām going to keep doing Rocket Pass although I should check how many keys I banked last time I did. Played a couple of games on Switch and they went pretty well although my air roll was mapped to my jump button so I couldnāt actually do much and I forgot to fix it between games. I think my settings largely saved except for my presets; the names are there but theyāre all blank Octanes or something.
The price for cashing in blueprints is ridiculous. As much as $20 for something like wheels or a goal explosion is just pure gouging in my mind. And thereās no mechanism in place to earn these through any other means - you gotta spend money and probably a lot of it.
Iāve spent maybe $10 total with the new system and I am a whale. I just wonāt buy at the current prices. Something as simple as a decal (not even a rare one) can be 5 bucks.
I need to figure out how to access my pc account because I had a lot of cool shit on there.
I will say though changing the hitbox on the merc, which has always been a meme car (maybe not as big of a meme as scarab) shows they are willing to make changes to improve the game. One of the crappier things about RL has always been the lack of car choice. You pretty much can play dominus or octane bodies and thatās it. Plank cars if youāre feeling real frisky.
But I could see them doing something dumb like changing octaneās hitbox and boom there goes thousands of hours of practice in one patch right down the drain.
So no more free items after matches and no more Rocket Pass? Admittedly I donāt care much about cosmetics but I know theyāre a big part of games like this so thatās definitely a bummer. I do enjoy games where i earn things just for playing.
Thereās rocket pass. The āfreeā items you get after games are blueprints that you have to redeem for cash.
Maybe rocket pass makes it all better - I dont know, havent bought it, donāt plan to.
I bought it once for $10 and then I earned enough keys through it to get the subsequent ones for free, although when they dropped Mac support I stopped playing so I probably didnāt hit the 10 I need for the current one. You earn quite a few cosmetics from it, I think something like 100 items per season although some are just variants of the same thing in different colors.

I bought Rocket League for my son a couple years ago. The really nice thing about it going FTP is now he can play with his friends.
Iāve played 70 hours of Hades since I bought it last Friday. Thatās perfectly normal for a married and fully employed guy in his 40s right?

Iāve put in almost 10 and Iām still horrible.
Iām about to buy Diablo 2 just from never playing it and watching a streamer though. It looks so fun for a 20 year old game.

I played Nintendo and stuff a lot before '99 but never played computer games really until like LOTRO and thatās when I got hooked on MMO PVP. So, I am great at MMOs and group PVP strategy but man I suck at games like Hades. I could run a raid or so in PVP right now in a given game, Hades fucks me.

I wish I had been into PC games then. I got my first Gateway a few years after despite having every college computer class taken in the mid 90s in our high school Windows 95 yo! I tuned out for a bit there and snowboarded and did drugs and toured with Phish. Itās weird that I played Nintendo and other consoles so hard and then just quit completely for awhile when looking back now.
Iām not even a Lord of the Rings nerd but that mmo got me hardcore into games again. I had such a shitty computer so I never had a chance in PVP unless in a group but that made the lag worse really but it was still so damn fun. Once I got into some good coordinated small groups that could kill a raid of other players I was definitely hooked. I love the smaller group taking out a bigger group dynamic.
Another game which is right in my genre is DAOC which I hear about almost all the time but never got to play. I feel bad about that. People still call it the best PVP game ever.

Got parents to drive me, and showed up and he was in pajamas thinking I was kidding, I wasnāt kidding it was fucking Diablo 2. Yeah stared at him watching the game for hours and snap bought the game afterwards.
God game was so fucking good for its time.
