For any slay the spire fans, monster train is amazing, played like 10 hours in the last three days
Iāve heard mixed things but was somewhat interested given the STS comparison. Unfortunately I donāt have a way to play it as itās Windows only, hoping it does well enough that they port it to Switch.
Very few games on steam get to āoverwhelming positiveā so Iāll check it out for $20
Any reports? I saw that STS is coming to iOS this month, been waiting for that for a while. Also @Krayz sighting
I bought it and have played a few hours and am a fan so far. It seems more varied that STS as you get to pick two classes (out of 5) to draw your hero and cards from. I also like that you seem to have a bit more control in creating your deck. I also like that there is more variety to the upgrades for cards (rather than just upgrading the card) you get to buy from a variety of upgrades (e.g. more power, less cost).
There are only 6 battles per run, but each battle is much longer than STS with waves of enemies, so a run still takes about an hour.
Overall, if you like that type of game, Iād definitely suggest it.
Sweet, good review, thanks. My usual gaming community had some reservations that it was way too busy. Iām holding out hope that they make a Switch version since thatās where I do most of my gaming. I asked the developers and they said something like they would love to expand to other platforms but didnāt have plans to at the moment.
It can definitely get busy - especially with one of the decks where you create units to be eaten by your other units. So youāll have tons of units out there and often hard to keep track of it all.
The other downside is that sometimes youāll need to do quite a bit of math - just simple addition but it can get complicated. For example, some enemies get buffed if you play a spell, so you have to calculate how much damage youāll save by using a spell to kill one enemy but buffing another. Not hard per se, but when you have multiple different combos you can play, it can take some time to figure out the optimal play (or like me you can just start winging it and then get frustrated when it didnāt work out). It is nice that the game tells you exactly what will happen (i.e. it gives you a preview of the damage each unit will take), but often Iāll play a card only to see the damage not move the way I expected.
Final potential downside is that your deck being less random than STS seems to allow you to pick the type of deck you want and almost always build it. This seems good when you first start, but long-term may be more boring as you donāt have to adapt each run the same way that you did in STS.

What you playing these days?
Total War: Warhammer 2 first playthrough as High Elves with Tyrion
Animal Crossing
Breath of the Wild 2nd playthrough
Sometimes CS:GO or Rocket League with bluef0x and others from 2p2
Just finished Return of the Obra Dinn which is a top 10 game for me
Oh nice I just finished Obra Dinn also, great game. Sometimes I see a Bluef0x playing Rocket League but canāt remember if itās the same one.
There is only one bluef0x, trust me
Donāt know if people saw this, seems like insane value but obviously also for a good cause.
It includes this game
Just two of the games (Oxenfree and Night in The Woods) is worth wayyyy more than 5 bucks.
Oh shit. Death and Taxes, Cook Serve Delicious 2, and Super Hexagon as well
I mean, there is a TON of garbage here, but those 5 games would make an excellent BTA tier on Humble
Just realized this weekend I have CSD2 and only played a few hours.
Really liked 1
My friends and I got age of empires 2 the definitive edition on steam. Having a blast with that as well.
Finally started playing Dead Cells, so far so good. Right up my alley, a fast moving platformer/side-scroller with Metroidvania elements, loot gathering, and tons of stuff to unlock. Took me an hour and a half to realize I could dodge and use it to roll under passageways, thoughā¦
