Well when I bought the headset the PSVR didn’t support streaming videos, so I downloaded some stuff onto a thumb drive. Not sure if that has since changed, but that was kind of a pain in the ass. Another small downside is the resolution on these headsets isn’t as good as your laptop screen or TV, but they’re still fairly good.
I’ve seen a few different kinds of videos. POV stuff is very cool but it’s kind of disconcerting to look down and see this girl sucking a dick that is very much not yours. There’s also stuff where it’s more like you’re just a silent observer in the room, looking at whatever you’d like.
The biggest takeaway I had is that it felt shockingly intimate. Like, VR or not, seeing some beautiful girl get right up in your face and whisper dirty things in your ear… it’s a very different experience than regular porn.
Epic Games giving away Civilization VI is now live. The rumor is that the next games are Borderlands: The Handsome Collection and Ark: Survival Evolved. I am familiar with the Civ series but not the latter two. Comments on them?
As a huge civ6 degen, getting to play new Civilizations and getting new music, units, etc… automatically becomes worth it. The diplomacy victory condition is one of the weaker ones entertainment wise, but if you play a lot and have already completed the other conditions dozens of times over its certainly worth it.
The global warming and environmental effects don’t really add much to the game. Sometimes squares get pillaged or you just permanently can’t use them. So the game becomes more challenging, which is a good thing, but mostly its just annoying.
Casual Civ VI player here (330 hours per steam). First DLC - Rise and Fall - was worth it. I like the governor system, new era system, and the emergencies. Even loyalty is kind of nice as it makes it hard to settle cities super far from your home, which seem realistic. Second, not so much. Didn’t really feel any of the new stuff made game more enjoyable.
Don’t think you really need any of the scenario/civ packs, unless you play so much and want new civs to play. Scenarios are ok, but probably not worth the $ unless you get bored of base game. Only scenario I found particularly enjoyable was the Alexander one - rest I played once and had no inclination to ever play again over base game.
Disco Elysium was great. I also bought and played through Return of the Obra Dinn since my last post (it’s like 8-9 hours, maybe less if you have a better eye for detail), would recommend for fans of deductive reasoning or just solving mysteries/puzzles in general.
For me it didn’t quite reach the level of hype but also a lot of people set a nearly impossible bar by declaring it their game of the year, best mystery game ever, etc. It’s a great game and a unique experience and I basically couldn’t stop thinking about it for the few days it took me to complete and I think anyone who is interested should buy and play it but by the end it got a little tedious I wasn’t exactly gobsmacked when I finally finished it. I give it a ringing endorsement but not sure it’s quite “best ever” material.
Been playing a ton of Hitman over the weekend. Trying to do some of the suit only silent assassin challenges on master difficulty, that’s quite a challenge.
Uhh… I have won with every leader on Immortal difficulty on Vanilla and the Rise & Fall expansion. I still play it regularly while I rewatch shows on the iPad. I never downloaded the other expansion though. I’m weird.
Edit: 1075 hours.
Edit2: Should not have looked at Dota time while I was at it… over 8100. And that’s only on my main.
Operation Animal Crossing is going according to plan. Girlfriend seems to enjoy it a lot. She was over for 5 nights and probably logged close to 20 hours and I was usually playing poker next to her. When I wasn’t busy, she’d ask if I wanted to play and usually I’d just visit a new island or something and plunder all the items. It seems fun enough and she’s enjoying it, but I don’t think there’s any risk I’ll be diving into it myself. In any case, from what I’ve read, it’s basically one player to each game copy b/c the experience is way dumbed down for the 2nd player (i.e. they’re not really part of the main story just an extra on player 1’s quest).
