Even better, to gamepass
I had to skip your spoilers, because even with hundreds of hours in the game, Iāve never finished it. Iām going to finish this current Long War of the Chosen run, though - I just killed the Avatar for the first time. I had fought it and failed in a couple prior run throughs. I got lucky this time - it popped on a Covert Operation Evac mission with no reinforcements, and I was able to rig it to pop out as the last creature. So I had 7 good to great soldiers and no fear of triggering other pods.
Reapers and Skirmishers are pretty fun. Reapers have a skill (it may only be in Long War, not vanilla) where it can fire at a single target until either it runs out of ammo or the target dies (each shot has slightly worse accuracy). Itās a good one for taking out Chosen / Alien King/Queens. Skirmishers are my favorite - love zinging around the map getting flanking shots.
The Lost I could give or take. Theyāre annoying but Iāve had a few missions where their appearance saved me, as theyāll sometimes distract the enemy. Itās a decent wrinkle, I guess.
So glad to hear you are onto WotC. Its almost 100% better than the base game (which is a masterpiece imo.) There is one clear answer to āWho is the best Chosenā and I have to know whether you get it right or not.
Friendship bond stuff is fun, and it really isnāt super intensive. The most time consuming part is, like you pointed out, the changing of loadouts and such.
And when you finish you can move on to Long War or the RPG mod (which I am having a blast with. Instead of specialized soldiers, you get base soldiers, and when they get upgrades YOU get to choose the path they go down across all of the classes) So Iāve got a dual pistol wielder with reaper enhancements so he can get in close and pistol whip Sneks to his hearts content.
Reaper is by far the best class though, the stealth is so important that Iām not sure how well I would be able to finish a run without it.
Its funny that you donāt mention the Templars, because his ultimate attack is so unbelievably powerful on a board filled with enemies, that I often canāt justify not taking him in late game.
Also, the lost ruining an enemy overwatch on an escape mission is just the best. Thanks zombos!
Iāve never leveled a Templar all the way up!
I probably use the melee classes less than most - other than a Gunner in my current game that the RNG gave almost all the combat knife perks to. Iāve been having fun running him around doinā some stabbinā.
I love the melee in Xcom, its so much fun to go running directly at an ayy jump in the air and slash/smash to my heartās content
this WotC business not being Wizards of the Coast is an MTG level of me twitching when I read it
Look at this magnificent bastard!
The bottom row skills I took for him are
Blademaster: +1 to melee damage and +10 aim to melee attacks
Fleche: Just like the Shinobi skill
Lightning Slash: Melee attack on any unit in blue range, and it doesnāt end the turn.
And his starting movement is 16. So he can lightning slash and then suppress. I had to use a ton of XCOM shared points to get all three, since heās Very Low combat intelligence.
Iām a very casual gamer and Spiderman/God of War were clear above anything else last generation for me
Story be damned I just want to fuck some shit up in GoW. I preferred the Greek mythology for sure, but the game is too fun.
Iām not saying itās a bad game, just the storytelling is all goofy. Go balls out and have Kratos fight all the A-list Norse gods in game 1. You can always have them come back in game 2 looking for payback.
Probably just the difference between Long War mod and base game, but I canāt say for certain. Spoilers in case you donāt want mild Long War spoilers.
He has something like 4 Armor, 45ish HP, regens health, teleports after every successful attack on him, and has some nasty attacks. Might be similar in base.
One campaign - this was the first time I ever popped him so I didnāt know better - I pulled him up in the middle of a base raid - my thinking was, āIāve got 8 of my best guys here, itās an objective, letās get it done.ā It did not go well.
Long War as a whole does have some harder tasks - the Blacksite mission usually has 36+ enemies. Itās actually been made a little easier, I think - an early version of it had a ton of enemies, and a Chosen. So I first had to fight my way through the damn Hunter to even get to the Blacksite Vial.
Just wanted to share that I knew my then-fresh GF was the right one when she printed out character sheets for our xcom campaign because it was a pain to manage them via the UI
This is nutty. I guess GTA V has been selling multi-millions per quarter since 2013 til fairly recently. Not only is it one of the highest grossing raw sales of all time, GTA Online is one of the most massive MMOās out there and its revenue is jaw dropping for a game like this - 8 billion since 2013.
Very arguably one of the most successful games of all time. It really is a masterpiece.
Thats Xcom, baby!
Use the gotcha again mod from the stream workshop. Reduces ridiculous bullshit by like 80%.
I think they tried to balance the first terror mission of a run because scrubs kept getting wrecked by it and wouldnāt see three quarters+ of the game. But yeah you can often just leave it to the bozos to deal with though if you rush in there headlong you can get bonuses for saving literally everyone in the map.
OK so lol grue but man is there nothing better in video gaming than playing overwatch, defense kingās row, reinhardt, we stop them after 2nd point, we get on attack, my fucking cat steps on my PC power button, 2 minutes later I come back in and we barely rally on point 1 and then win the whole thing. Glorious!
