Only had a little bit of time to play Terra Invicta, but it’s outstanding so far. nfi what I’m doing but it’s fun.

I played for 1 hour last night - seems intriguing, but hoping it’s not too micro-managey.
im too add for those types of games, I need something simple with cartoons like civ

Finally bit on this for like $20 used. It’s pretty addictive so far but I’ve gotta say I wish there was more focus on big group fights and less on the boss, at least in the first level. Throwing down with mobs and developing your skills seems a lot more fun than one-on-one boss battles in this type of game. Also saw your complaint about the second boss repeated elsewhere so not looking forward to that.
Sifu got much better for me at least in the 2nd half. Great game once I figured it out. The dodge mechanic with the L stick was not at all intuitive for me but after a little while figured it out. Liked it so much was considering replaying but have a big backlog now and probably buying a 4090 and then even bigger backlog.

Yeah I felt like I was missing something so I read up on the game mechanics a bit and seems like this is what I was neglecting to do. Looking forward to getting back into it tonight.
Reviews come across as it being very clunky and unfinished. Probably will wait a few months for them to get the initial feedback and clean up some stuff.
It def needs a lot of work, but looks like it will eventually be incredible, the sheer scale is ridiculous
Definitely overwhelms you with way too many details and controls that aren’t explained. It’s all the things that frustrate people when they play paradox games. I’m still kinda into it.

Ok yeah I think I’ve got the dodge mechanic somewhat down. Best the second boss pretty handily but have to go back and complete the first level even younger - just got through it at 23. For a minute I wasn’t sure I was going to stick with the game but now that it’s starting to click it’s pretty sweet.

I really hope Overwatch 2 is good. The original is one of my favorite games of all time, but I haven’t played in a while because aside from balance patches, they haven’t updated anything in a couple years.
I’m skeptical of 5v5, but I get why they did it. And I really hate that new heroes are locked behind a battle pass, since the entire game is based off of heroes and lore. I get that, too, as they decided the best way to make money is to go F2P with a battle pass, so I suppose if it brings in the cash, they can support the game for years and that’s good. But man, I don’t know.
I’m also worried that I won’t even be able to play it because of the new SMS security requirement. My son needed a phone number on his account a couple years ago so he could play something (Warzone, I think), so I put mine on it because why not. Last year, he wanted me to play Warzone with him, but to play for free, I needed a phone number. It wouldn’t accept mine, even after taking it off his account (we got him a cell phone last year, so he could use his number on his account), because a number can only be used once on Blizzard, ever.
And that’s the same rule for his new SMS feature for Overwatch. I’m afraid my number is burned. I guess I could use my wife’s, but it would be nice if I could just use mine and not be punished for being a decent dad.
Thanks for the Terra Invicta thoughts - keep 'em coming. The Long War mods are basically the only games I’ve played in the last 5 years.
Only real decision I don’t get is 5v5, did not feel good at all in beta and all I can think is there’s going to massive swongs in balance patches for at least a year to make it work. Some tanks and supports are going to be totally unplayable until they figure it out.
Unlockable new hero thing is… interesting, I’d assume with a decent amount of play you’ll get them for free but tbh the original OW monetization was ridiculous, you didn’t have to pay anything ever for 6 years and it was easy AF to get any skins you wanted, guess we’ll see how it plays out.
The phone thing makes sense in their move to F2P, plenty of OW1 games were ruined by smurfing and thats when it costed $20+, can’t think of any way around that than 1 account per phone number. I had no problem switching my phone number a couple days ago.
Guess we’ll see can’t say I have a lot of faith in these guys but the fundamentals are great and yeah new heroes and new maps/modes on a regular schedule again after like 2 years of nothing should be great.
I totally understand the reasoning behind the changes, I just feel like it’s risking taking the “soul” out of the game. We shall see. I do feel bad for tank mains with the switch to 5v5. I’m a Moira main, so I would think I’ll be ok (I played a little of the beta and it was fine, other than feeling really chaotic because I hadn’t played in so long).
