RF did get a sizable nerf this league, with Fire Trap losing ~25% single target DPS.

My crazy idea is using Ralakesh’s impatience and then either a weapon swap and a high STR gem in those boots that disables them, or just literally taking off the boot to enable discharge to be bananas. Like this:

You can socket a level 20 berserk in Ralakesh’s boots, weapon swap to scepter and/or shield with some +str that enables the boots, then swap back to be instantly back at full charges that now can be discharged and won’t leave if you move. Then you can run eternity shroud instead of Farrul’s Fur for some extra big booms. We’ve lost a power charge (and thus also a frenzy charge) this patch thanks to the Trickster changes, but you gain 3 endurance charges on the boom in trade. Boots, Badge, and maybe one piece of + power charge gear is probably enough to get started. Badge and the void batteries were pretty cheap last league outside of the first week.

Sounds like some trade league magic. Can’t personally get away from SSF.

Yeah, I forgot to note that, but that’s manageable as long as you aren’t really doing serious bossing with the character (and you shouldn’t). Shouldn’t hurt much in maps or presumably most lake encounters unless the new archnem rares are appreciably tougher than map bosses.

Yeah I prefer SSF too. Human interaction in my action RPG is not my preferred method of playing.

I take it back don’t play cult of the lamb unless you completely love stardew, its combat is just bad and it copies stardew in a ton of ways and not particularly well. Buggy AF too. Tries too hard to get mileage from the cult setting. Surprised the reviews are so high it wears pretty thin after ~10 hours.

RF, popcorn SRS, and EoW mines are all definitely SSF viable. Ralakesh’s shenanigans, no.

I recently beat a game called The Pathless on PS5. You basically try to move as fast as possible by shooting these diamonds that speed you up. Mostly puzzle solving with no enemies other than bosses. It took me two days to beat, but it was kinda fun.

Hmmmm, that lightning conduit skill got just got a big buff over the announcement. Hmmmm.

Here’s my experience with SG’nG for anyone considering a run at it.

(Obv I know that none of you are considering any more than you’re considering lighting yourself on fire and jumping into a live snake pit.)

Post mortem on Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Got to the point where I could get inside the castle (Level 6) without much trouble. However, I was battling some kind of input lag / dropped frame issue the whole time that eventually annoyed me to the point of quitting a few weeks into this. I should note that the SNES hardware lags in this game considerably in some spots, but something was just not right on my emulation setup. Dreams of speedrunning were dead on arrival. For instance, I replayed two spots at the beginning of Level 1 probably several hundred times and could not recreate a jump that the world record runners were doing.

But before I gave up, I did happen peak into the rabbit hole. That’s where I found these posts by someone who is considered an expert on the game:

That sucks. On top of figuring out if I have the emulator installed properly and doing all of the system tweaks to reduce lag and get optimal performance, I’d also have to figure out if my ROM and emulator are behaving nicely in terms of memory / corruption cloning. I really suspect it’s this emulator I’m using but don’t care enough to solve it right now.

GGG giving a skill a massive buff in 2022? It must be clunky as hell. Good luck to you if you go for it.

It was enough to at least check some PoB estimates (although nothing is certain because the gems aren’t in yet). The damage looks merely pretty good, not stooooooopid, so that’s not enough for me to jump in on an untested and potentially clunky skill.

lol, now it’s nerfed again. Maybe the damage was stooopider than I appreciated. Still though, the abundance of reduce shock effect on Archnem mods, and that there is even some shock immune stuff out there still means that it probably isn’t quite ready for prime time.

I think I’m down to either eye of winter mines inquisitor, or maybe explosive arrow ignite elementalist that both got nerfed and that I played 2 leagues ago, but that should still be really good and that I could pretty easily convert into Death Wish. I think either of those I’m going to try to use to fund Ralakesh’s Discharge, unless that gets nuked from orbit before the league starts.

Looks like I’m going to do RF inquisitor, because this guy has an insane n00b friendly guide for it. www.pohx.net

Haha I’m doing the same. I appreciate the guide and having a linear progression path.

EA Ignite Ele was so good a few leagues ago. I ended up with my first headhunter on that character.

Yeah, his material is A+, and it’s always updated, unlike a lot of stuff you can find out there where the only thing that changes is the patch version.

xcom 2 is such a great game, I always forget til I pick it up again.

I also have the music to that raft level on infinite mental repeat from playing it so many times. It’s a great soundtrack but maybe just a little too great.

Found this on Reddit as well. Should be a good supplemental leveling tool.
