Only played a couple but weird game so far. Can’t help but think 1 tank was a really, really bad idea. 10 minute queue for tank?? And yeah as support you just um die. Push is just payload 2 I guess but I like the whole “its also a barrier” idea.
The idea behind one tank was to put a little more action into the game instead of having teams run two barrier tanks and just sit there. I haven’t looked at all the changes, but I know damage heroes were given increased speed and support were given passive self healing (I think) to give them extra survivability.
I mean action = you die even quicker? IDK. Dying isn’t fun and you died a ton in 1. We’ll see my opinion might change but I’m not loving it. Maybe players just need to adjust but my real first impression is really “well the game has been steadily balanced for 4 years on 2 2 2 and now its completely imbalanced”.
Rogue Legacy 2 released from early access today and yeah if you like dead cells or similar shit try this. I’m terrible though sheesh. Its a “permissive roguelike” i.e. if/when you die you’ll gain stuff in the hub area every time. Progression so far is pretty solid and not wasting my time.
The original is great and they have been working on the swcond for years so I have no doubt it will be great
@TJ_Eckleburg12 I’m watching the VOD of today now. One thing with HCS I can’t get used to is the Red / Blue color scheme instead of the team colors. My brain auto goes to team colors. Wish they would fix that.
Yeah it always throws me off when they make Cloud 9 red, I’m like come on they HAVE to always be blue!
I’ve watched some of the HCS Europe and ANZ and Mexico events… Acend is the best team in Europe by a lot and C9 utterly pushed their shit in
I really want to see Optic vs C9, hopefully it’ll happen on Sunday!
Love the first one, hoping for a Switch release on this one since that’s how I would prefer to play it.
@grue I finally got the grapnel in Returnal. Am I correct in assuming that it’s going to massively open up the game for me? It took me too long to reach/defeat the second boss, I had put the game down for a while but lately tempted to get back into it.
“Hilariously” the 3rd level is even harder, it introduces an enemy type that can just wreck you. Game does not open up until after level 3 then its a bit easier. Whether its worth pushing through is up to you. I can’t say I loved it but I did beat it.
Thanks. I’ll continue this in DMs since I may have more specific questions.
Update: Optic still da hoe, Cloud 9 still Daddy
Cyberpunk 2077 got it’s next-gen update a few months back so I finally started playing it on my PS5 and it’s wildly impressive so far. I really had no idea whether I was going to like it given the lukewarm reception (mostly due to it’s incomplete state on release) but it’s definitely the most advanced game I’ve ever experienced in terms of presentation - everything looks and feels incredible, partially thanks to the haptic feedback on the DualSense 5 controller. Only thing I’ve played that’s similar to it was Deus Ex: Mankind Divided but this feels a lot more immersive thanks to great character models and dialogue. I’m still early so it’s possible that it goes off the rails but so far it feels like an insane steal having bought the PS4 version for $10 and upgrading for free.
Edit: reading some old messages from jmakin who has extremely similar tastes to me and he had a lot of the same takes. I guess he doesn’t post here anymore?
Borderlands 3 is free on Epic.
Pretty nice CRPG bundle on Humble this week: https://www.humblebundle.com/games/battles-of-yore-bundle?mcID=102:6283e2a02e9ae255eb55e0eb:ot:56c3ebef733462ca8942b06a:1&linkID=6283e2a226560a3c3048b46b&utm_campaign=2022_05_18_oldworld_bundle&utm_source=Humble+Bundle+Newsletter&utm_medium=email.
I’ve heard that Pathfinder is janky but in a pretty fun and interesting way. The $1 tier is pretty nice value if you’ve never gotten Tyranny for free (it’s been free a few places previously).
Whats the C stand for?
Character, I think?
Free on Epic:
