got that old man energy

I keep reminding him how cool I am that I’m a dad gamer. He’s really been loving watching me make runs on Binding of Isaac. I tell him that there’s no way his friends’ dads are doing that.

Yeah, it might be ā€œwhat is easierā€ depends on when you play them, personal style…Sekiro needed more more manual dexterity and Bloodbornes timing and gun use has a different rhythm than DS and DeS.

There is an NPC co-op for S&O that makes it much easier.

Dad gamers are sweet. My dad played PC games as I was growing up, I always got his old computer when he’d upgrade. I’d still try to steal time on his because I could never run newer games. He played the original COD and COD 2 on some old man servers all the time, I was pretty beastly at those games so he’d have me go on under his name to piss off the regs in the server. I think they almost banned him at one point.

I got banned from a COD server once. I played COD and COD2 a ton. I played a lot on some clan’s server and I was quite good (I tended to be more of a defensive-type player). Tried logging in one day and got a message I had been banned.

I found the clan’s message forum and posted, asking what was up. They said they had evidence that I was wall hacking or something - I think there was some instance of my grenade clipping through a crate or some shit. I told them I was just some 30+ dad who played for fun (my daughter was an infant at the time, so this would’ve been 14 years ago) and that I didn’t even know where to get hacks. A few people recognized me from the games and vouched for me, so they unbanned me.

At 66 halfway to 67 now and I’m one of the higher levels in my guild - we have one 70 and a few 68’s and then me.

What’s crazy is some euro guild downed gruul, mag, and all of kara less than 24 hours after release. Absolutely nuts, it’s gonna take us over a month, maybe two months to even see the inside of karazhan.

My guild leader seems like a potentially difficult personality but overall is not a bad guy. We have a solid core of about 10 people which is all you really need. Just need more tanks. I really like the other people i’ve been playing with, and this is what I enjoyed about original tbc - Just having fun on vent (now discord) and doing whatever content you can manage. We did mana tombs at level 63 with a level 61 healer and cleared it and felt like a big accomplishment. Stuff like that.

Been having kind of fun with world pvp as well. It’s annoying when you get ganked and outnumbered, but doing world pvp objectives (and actually getting worthwhile rewards) in hellfire has been really fun and a nice change from classic, where in my opinion the world pvp sucked.

Oh yea - and hunter dps is ridonculous.

Chivalry 2 launch. No one here playing? It’s fun af and you can just hop in and do pvp. Not sure how long it will hold my interest but so far it’s fun. Going to try with controller today.

I’m trying and having a blast but man do I suck. I’m going to try some offline practice. I’m not sure if I did something wrong, but it told me to pick a side at the beginning and I chose red, but for some reason I’m blue? The other thing is you learn the controls with a sword but you start with a polearm and have to earn a sword? I think you’re right that it might get repetitive after awhile but so far so good.

The combat is weird at first but seems to have real depth once you know things. I’ve replayed the tutorial a few times to practice and refresh my knowledge.

You pick color the first time and then it auto places you. The fact that you can just hop in for a match is what is nice. It then keeps auto signing up for matches so a few hours can go by before you notice.

my son is getting an oculus for his birthday, any game recommendations for a 10 year old other than beat saber? He likes shooters like fortnite/apex legends but will play pretty much anything.

Half Life Alyx is supposedly the best VR game by far

TBC classic blog - I’ve recruited about a dozen people into the guild, trying to find lowbies that are cool to group with and competent. Found a retail main tank last night and normally I don’t believe people when they say stuff like that but this guy clearly knew his stuff. He was 3-4 levels below the dungeons we were doing and was in crap starter gear and holding aggro just fine with me and another dps pumper slamming the dmg. Also got a healer.

It’s a lot slower grouping in these lowbie dungeons (like 50-75k xp/hr) but I figure if we find solid people to raid it’ll pay off in the end. I’m fairly certain I can become an officer in this guild and it’s decently sized, probably ~150 active players. I’ve been promoted to ā€œcoreā€ and I really like playing with the other core members. I’ve always wanted to get in on the ground floor of a successful guild and I think this one could do well with a little bit of effort. I’ve been going way out of my way to help people level and stuff. Probably would be 70 by now if I didn’t but oh well. What’s really important to me in a guild is having fun, I hate the sweaty try hard raiding guilds. I’ve been there, done that, don’t wanna do that ever again.

My goal for this expansion is to go to the sunwell and get the best bow in the game. I’m not sure we’ll get that far but if we at least get into karazhan/gruul/mag in the next few months I’ll be happy. There’s definitely going to be a lot of waiting around for everyone to hit 70 so I’ll probably level my paladin or something if I run out of things to do - but between farming/alchemy and grinding rep for various items I need I should be occupied enough.

I am having the most fun I’ve had playing any game in a really long time. This expansion is great, even if it’s not 100% like the original, the differences are so small they are easily ignored.

Highly recommend jumping on faerlina with me and regretS! Haven’t been hit with a queue time since release.

@TW9kc2FsbG93ZG94aW5n do you watch any wow streams? I’m looking for a really good hunter to follow but I don’t know the scene at all.

Yea, raiding is a huge time commitment that doesn’t mesh well with having a significant other or small kids etc. i’m at a really unique point in my life where I can spend the time doing this. In the original version I didn’t really have this kind of time to spend.

Chill dad guilds are cool, I’d be in one but I really want that CONTENT.

My role in this guild so far seems to be the ā€œorganizerā€ guy, I form the dungeon groups and fill in slots and either go on the dungeon if dps is needed or I find a replacement and then leave. I think I must have formed like 25 groups already at least.

What’s really funny about this expansion is how many 20 something retail kids there are playing that never played tbc original. It’s like watching a little kid discover something cool for the first time that you’ve done a million times.
