Yeah, I had budgeted around 2k-2.5k for food and Uber for two weeks, that may have been a bit optimistic

Shit man, when you get back to Atlanta, I’ll treat you to the Varsity or Williamson Bros BBQ or some shit.

As a local, I could think of a million different restaurants I would rather go to than the Peppermill. Bagelmania would be a better choice IMO in the same area. The Rainbow Casino downtown used to have the exact same food for less price downtown, but sadly they no longer do breakfast.

This is what I was thinking. You could 100% survive a two week 2500 food budget if you eat where the locals eat.

Since you are close to downtown, I’m going to give you a short list of dining experiences in or around the Fremont Street experience that are mostly cheaper than the Strip. Circa seems to have Strip pricing, so I didn’t eat there the one time I visited. A $20 roast beef sandwich seems excessive.

Never been there, but the Garden Court buffet at Main Street Station is open now if you want the Vegas buffet experience.

Aloha Specialties seems to be recommended by a lot of people for Hawaiian food and is in the walkway between Main Street Station and the Cal. The Cal has the famous oxtail soup late at night at the Market Street Cafe.

I sort of feel that high-end steakhouses aren’t that different and downtown steakhouses are cheaper than those on the Strip. I’ve been to Oscar’s at the Plaza and liked their scotch selection. If you had the Las Vegas Advisor coupon book, you could get 20% off their happy hour menu. Triple George Grill and Hugo’s Cellar are among the other steakhouses downtown that I see in discussions of favorite places.

I haven’t made it to Esther’s Kitchen in the Arts District, but I’ve heard good things. I really haven’t ventured into the Arts District for dining, but I hear there are some good things out there.

Not sure where your AirBnB is, but Siegel’s 1941 is probably closer than the Fremont Experience and is one of your options for 24/7 dining.

I liked Eureka for burgers and bourbon.

Pizza Rock and Popup Pizza get mentioned in discussions about the best pizza in Vegas. Evel Pie might be closer to where you are staying. I was not impressed with the pizza at Chicago Brewing Company, but it’s still pizza.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Benny’s Smokin’ BBQ & Brews at Binion’s ever since I ate there using a voucher I received during a dinner break during a LHE tournament.

There’s a taco place in the FSE that fits my minimum of serving horchata and stuff like lengua/cabeza. I won’t say it’s good, but it’s cheap.

Always wondered what kind of people go for the $11.99 steak and lobster special at Tony Roma’s, but I wouldn’t eat there.

Lanai Express at the Fremont Casino is where you can get relatively cheap food that doesn’t make for good food porn. Their 99 cent shrimp cocktail is pretty pathetic looking.

Great stuff, thanks Bruce. I’m actually in the Arts district near downtown.

First break, down to 42k from a 50k starting stack. Table’s pretty tight/passive, nobody wants to play any big pots. We were 5-handed for most of the first 4 levels, so the blinds came around fast…. Up to 6 now so hopefully we’ll be full soon. Still lots of people trying to register.

Detroit chilli dog at The D.

I’m a sucker for Frank and Fina’s Cocina, but it’s been over a decade and they’ve moved locations so who knows. Plus you need to Uber or have a car most likely.

The Cornish Pasty company is good and should be close to you.

The container park had some good dining options too but I can’t recall their names or even if they’d still be there. It’s been a decade since I was in that place.

I’d recommend making use of the Yelp app for finding restaurants in Vegas, especially at odd hours when filtering by what is open now and sorting by distance from your location is of great use.

That’s a great idea, I’ll definitely make use of that, thanks!

On the 2nd break, but I got a lotta work to do, only 6 bb and change when we come back. I made a river call for over half my stack when I rivered two pair, but straights and flushes were possible, so when you put it like that, sounds pretty terrible. I couldn’t think past herp derp I improved so CAWL.

If I bust soon, I’ll see what the line is like to register for tomorrow

Spending 37 dollars on that breakfast and 26 dollars on that burger physically tilted me

@TJ_Eckleburg12 , Yuv’s post of the essential restaurants in vegas reminded me -

If you cash, definitely celebrate by going to Bazaar Meats. One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Pretty expensive. I didn’t pay, so it didn’t bother me. But the food and experience was awesome.

I’m like that too. Plus, all the running after the meal really burns off the calories.

Made it to the 3rd break and late registration has closed. Flight 1 stands at 2619 entries, and tomorrow and Sunday should be bigger. Still alive but still pretty short, I’ll have 10 bb when we come back.

I saw Kathy Liebert in the hall, said hi to her and I think she smiled under her mask. That’s me, starstruck for tv pros that were relevant 15 years ago when I followed televised poker more closely :joy::rofl: By all accounts, a great player and a nice person.

Out in the 12th level. Shoved 6 bb with 55, SB woke up with TT. I think I played fine other than that one river call that got me short and limited my options.

Question for donkament pros: is K5s an open ship from the HJ with 6 bb ten handed? I thought about it, but decided if I had waited this long, I’d try to find a more straightforward spot. Not that results matter, but AQ and JJ woke up behind me that hand and I would have outdrawn both of them. So I was happy and content to finally get it in as a 4:1 dog :smirk: All of my other decisions were very easy while I was short.

Now I guess I’ll wait in this crazy line again to register for tomorrow. Will probably take at least 2 hours :sob: I’m hearing that wait times are even worse on graveyard shift because everyone’s trying that and they have even less cashiers.

Not even remotely a pro, but any suited king is a jam in your spot.
