I’ve already written off Georgia. It is straight up rigged and has the legitimacy of a Putin-run “election.”
Ok, reading the AJC article about it, it seems like the bill isn’t as anti-absentee balloting as it seems. It’s still dumb, but it’s not 100% voter suppression.
The Republican SOS actually did a good thing and had absentee ballot applications mailed to pretty much everyone in the state - 6.9 million applications. I remember my wife and I got them unsolicited, filled them out, and got our ballots in the mail.
The GOP is upset, saying that this application-flooding caused problems because it overloaded the system when so many people filled out the applications. There were delays, some people didn’t get their ballots, etc.
What they want to do is to stop the SOS from mailing out applications to everyone again, instead requiring voters to request the applications themselves. An application form can be downloaded and filled out, or a form can be completed on the SOS’s website (that page is being built, apparently, and is part of the legislation).
Clearly, this will still make it harder for some people to get absentee ballots and will reduce voting (something the GOP wants), but it’s not QUITE as bad as it seemed. I’d be ok with the SOS not mass-mailing applications if there was a guaranteed way everybody could get one who needs one, but I doubt there is a reliable way.
Didn’t know it till a couple years ago but this case originated in my current/hometown county.

Wyoming: Working the White Way
I mean, its Texas, it probably doesn’t matter this cycle. That said, apparently in Texas you can vote absentee for any reason if you’re 65+, but otherwise that isn’t true. How the hell is that legal, it is blatant age discrimination!

Accidentally shared on Facebook in what she thought was a PM.
“A lot of my friends have jumped to my defense, which I really appreciate,” she said. "I don’t like this kind of stuff. I don’t mean anything by it.
“I have worked hard to make sure everybody is registered to vote — Black or white, everybody — that’s just how I am.”
John Roberts doesn’t see anything out of line about this.
Nothing to see here, just the GOP inviting foreign countries to help them win elections (again)
I’m not sure about that. My understanding is that your ID needs to match your registration. So either keep the ID the same and vote from the old address or update it and update your registration. My understanding is that either is legal, and may depend on your specific situation but IANAL.
I’m more worried about people becoming homeless and not being able to physically get to their polling place. That’s on us to try to keep them safe and fed, and to help organizers get them to the polls. It shouldn’t be on anyone other than the government to not put them in spot, but TIA.
Every time.

I thought you said there was no voter fraud, libtard? Boom roasted.
Not surprising. These dipshits actually want to abolish the 17th amendment and go back to letting state legislators elect senators
