The Television Streaming Thread: Part III

Binge watched The Penguin in 2 days. Good lord the Batman universe is dark. Heath Ledger’s joker is child’s play compared to this guy.

Pretty dark throughout and I loved Sofia Falcone and all the shit she did. Great show.

The ending where he killed Victor was really fucking dark. I was shocked.

Yeah this was insanely good. The middle group of episodes were so damn strong and the finale nailed it. Like you said, the last 3 episodes were very dense, and actually the whole series had a ton of moving parts so I’m looking forward to a rewatch sooner than later.

Boy is Breaking Bad hitting differently now that I’m in my 40s. I’m paying a lot more attention to the family dynamics and what it means for him to just not have the money until he enters the drug trade.

Losers will be interested to know that I did the same as with BCS and skipped to the episodes that include Gus.

the whole series they are setting him up to be a sympathetic poor kid fighting back against an unjust system by turning to crime and the drug trade. Then in the final few episodes they just say “nah fuck that” and remind us he’s a villain villain. I loved it.

Yea you knew something was gonna happen but I assumed he was gonna actually kill his own mother.

Im a little surprised at how few watchers there seem to be here. I think this would be up a number of the forum members alley. Maybe the animation or VG tie in are keeping people away.

Public service anouncement: League of Legends knowledge not required.

Yeah it’s the same for me in real life. Anyone I mention Arcane to is like “what’s that?” It’s prestige TV imo. Just excellent. Couldn’t believe how much this show made me tear up at times. Really hit so many notes and the relationship between Vi and Jinx…wow. To piggyback on your comments, the animation and soundtrack were phenomenal and the writers should take a bow also.

Should I watch this or Pantheon?

Okay you’ve convinced me. I’ll check out an episode or two of Arcane and see if it sticks.

Arcane. Unfortunately Netflix did not get the rights to Pantheon S2, which is kinda required to complete the story.

Dont stop before episode 3. It was released in 3 episode chunks and watching just the first two is incomplete. S1E3 is one of the best TV episodes of all time

Is it a superhero thing? I’m curious based on several positive reviews but superhero stuff isn’t my vibe.

Just want to add that the end of ep 3 was kind of my “you son of a bitch I’m in” moment. Similar to Andor for me. Up to that point I was like ok I think I like this but wasn’t fully invested and after the credits rolled on ep 3 that was it.

Oddly when i search on Netflix for Arcane it doesn’t pop up at all?

No, there may be “powers” involved late into the story, but they are based around science and magic. At its heart its a story about a civil war, technological advancement, love, loss, and family. There is political intrigue, tasteful sex scenes, LGBTQ representation, generally positive sex work depictions.

Its tragic, comedic, and the fight scenea are so much more entertaining than any Marvel movie.

Cool. Ok I’m convinced.

Thats weird, popped right up for me. Are you on a VPN? For whatever reason Ive found Netflix’s search function brings back inaccurate results when I am.

Should be on the top ten list for most countries though

I use VPN a lot but it doesn’t show me Arcane either way. Very weird.
