The Television Streaming Thread: Part III

Don’t know if you’ve seen it because you referenced what you’ve seen in the top 100 and it’s at 101, but Severance is recommended.

I have. Loved it. Unfortunately I’ve watched most of 101-250 also was just too lazy to keep going :leolol:

Anyone ever seen some of these foriegn ones like:
-gommorah
-line of duty

All good suggestions. Would I just laugh hysterically at west wing? I’ve always assumed it would send me into a blind rage so have never watched it.

I mean you just have to check your cynicism at the door and indulge the fantasy for what it is. It’s a great show if you can do that; I’m guessing it’s trash if you can’t.

Think im going to at least start Twin Peaks and go from there. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Have you seen Luther?

It’s a BBC one. Given some of your other misses, seems like there is a good chance you haven’t see it either.

It’s good.

I believe I started it but never finished. Will check it out.

Battlestar Galactica imo

And if you want a ten episode limited series that’ll make you go wtf wow, go with Wayward Pines

Early Twin Peaks impressions. Man the acting is super terrible in this. Literally 80s porn level. Also there are a lot of freaks and weird dudes in this town :vince:

Also this exchange had me cracking up

FBI agent to the Sheriff: Who’s the lady with the log
Poor man’s david hasselhoff sheriff: We call her log lady

Give it some time. The acting style is intentional. It starts to make sense.

Log Lady is a national treasure

I mean i figured. Although 80s-early 90s tv acting is pretty horrible a lot of times. Basically any Stephen King adaptation isn’t too far off from this.

Imagine my horror when log lady reappears in the second episode and I realize this is probably going to be some running gag. I’m enjoying it and definitely not quitting. That and some online plo are the agenda for my Saturday. Some life I lead :harold:

Twin Peaks acting is terrible is a weird take. That’s one of the things I loved most about it. Like Clovis said, it’s more an effect they are going for (sort of Wes Anderson like is the closest I can describe it) and not really 80s porn quality acting. My initial watch of this show was well documented in the Twin Peaks thread, which I’d avoid a bit as the memes can be a bit spoilery. I loved both the original series and the Return, even though they are stylistically a bit different. The original is definitely catered towards a broadcast TV audience despite being very different from most any shows at the time.

When the FBI guy shows up it was like a breath of fresh air because clearly this guy can act and I realized the insane melodramatic acting was likely on purpose. The first 20 minutes you have to admit the acting was horrible(intentionally i guess). I was literally wondering how the hell this show was so highly regarded up to that point.

I’m also extremely spoiled from my main tv watching years being from Sopranos on and basically watching every prestige/HBO type show made since then. This is something else entirely although it is regarded it seems like one of the earliest examples of prestige tv.

I’m sure my opinions will change as i go through it. I’m only part way through ep 3.

Super mild not really spoiler about the next couple episodes but spoilered anyway in case you want to go in 100% cold.

I went back and read my comments of my initial watch. Episode 4 is definitely where you start getting a sense of the shows depth. You’ll know the scene when you get there.
