The Television Streaming Thread: Part III

Dark Matter

Have seen some criticism of the lack of Jason1 having to confront the other Jasons. But for me, this was always a love story where the multiverse was just a plot device to get to Jason and Daniela to realize they love each other for the choices they made together as completely owning them as individuals and as a couple. Jason1, while tempted by thoughts of different lives kept true to himself, didnā€™t lose his core character and Daniela recognized that and knew he was the ā€œoneā€. Still I was expecting to somehow get thrown a curve that Jason and the end got the code word wrong or something shocking. But I loved that they just stuck with the simple ending. Letā€™s see what happens if they make a season 2.

The ending definitely lent itself to just being done or a Season 2

Looks like thereā€™s a chance they might have opened the door to the ā€œutopiaā€ Chicago where Amanda stayed? Itā€™s extremely vague, obviously, so they could go any direction they want with a Season 2.

Also, my wife and I werenā€™t sure if we missed something: when Ryan1 found Amanda and said heā€™s been looking for her, we couldnā€™t think of a time where he would have known about her existence, especially her existence in that world.

Watching The Bear confirms that there is no occupation as glorified yet miserable as that of ā€œchef.ā€

The Bear, episode 2 with all the closeups, made it feel like the script was typed in all caps.

Finished The Bear. Not gonna be hyperbolic. It was very very good and left me wanting more. Had some fantastic peaks but probably not quite Season 2 levels of greatness. 4.5/5 bags

Agree. They achieved 90-95% of S2 greatness, which to me is a big win. Excited for S4 and hoping it will come in less than a year since they were filming them consecutively.

Obligatory: fuck the binge-drop and the crippling effect it has on conversation about the show.

Never seen The Bear but could not agree more about this. Hate it with a passion.

Even after this binge-drop thereā€™s only 28 episodes, all of them under an hour and most hovering around a half-hour. Itā€™s very doable to catch up. Guessing a total runtime of 15-16 hours? Anyway, you should give it a go before that number goes up. It really is one of the best things on offer anymore.

Convo is nice and all, but Iā€™ll give that up in a split second to be able to binge without having to wait a week between episodes. Fuck that.

Canā€™t say I was a fan of that choice. Too distracting, zero ability to stop seeing the actor.

Just watched it, loved it. No dialogue, nice glimpse into Carmā€™s past, amazing visuals/food porn. Episode 2 back to the normal disfunction and chaos.

This is the take of someone who has never seen the show but thinks they are super witty from reading the IMDb description.

Pretty funny she had to limit replies due to everyone pointing out why she is wrong

I havenā€™t started S3 yet, but Iā€™ve watched all of S1 and S2.

Thatā€™s a reasonable take in general. And it makes sense if you forgot that one detail that makes her wrong. So the problem is more that she forgot something that wasnā€™t made that big a deal of in the show and less the take itself.
