The Television Streaming Thread: Part III

S1 was only 6 episodes and we’re already through 4 in S3. A lot more had happened by now in S1.

This season is 8 episodes so it seems like all they did was just throw in 2 episodes of filler to pad it out. The pacing probably would’ve been fine had it just been 6 eps.

The main thing though is that I just liked the characters way better in S2 (and S1). Lucia, Valentina, Harper, Dom were all a lot more interesting to me.

I think the writers are taking the shows success for granted a bit. S1 they didn’t know how it would hit and needed to gain traction early. Now they have the luxury of taking time building up the story. Or it could be it’s just missing me.

I don’t think I watched the last episode yet though so I will refrain from my previous stance.

They have an audience now that will watch a whole season regardless of pacing. S1 was shorter and had a greater sense of urgency to capture viewers.

I want to like Mythic Quest but i just don’t. idk what’s wrong with me

The first couple of seasons were good but I dropped out early in S3.

It is tough when none of the characters are very likable…

Agree. We don’t have a real hero. Which is odd as it’s a hero game in the title.

The good part of the Invincible comics just happened in the show and its pretty good so if you’re wavering or whatever there’ve been 3 good seasons so far. Have to wonder how close to the comics they’re going to go though after this episode. Everyone who’s read them knows what’s coming up…

My son has read most of the comics and he’s been loving the show so far (we aren’t caught up this season yet - watched maybe 3-4 episodes).

He’s gone through some mental health issues and was in a psychiatric facility in December 2023 (he’s been doing great since). I bought him a ton of the comics so he had something to read. The last time we watched the show, he said something comparing the scene to the comic.

My wife said, “You already read about that?”

His reply: “Mom, I was in a mental hospital. I had nothing else to do except read Invincible.”

Cool but I don’t know how to put this tactfully its not a comic book series I would really want someone who is having mental health problems devouring, at all.

I think thats an individual thing though, just because there are mebtal health issues doesnt mean he can’t separate entertainment mediums from his own issues. Some people just dont have triggers like that

I get that and respect it it just sounds like maybe he didn’t know its basically a “horrors of war” story and all that that entails but I’ll butt out for sure.

Nah, he’s good.

Most batshit crazy episode of survivor in 48 seasons!

Thats a hell of a claim. Crazier than the merge episode of HvV?

No spoilers. If it is as you say, I might venture to watch a season for the first time since 40

Would be top three for sure. Debatable if it for sure beats that one but it is truly loco. Apparently it was the longest tribal in the shows history.
