The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

You can’t be half in and half out with democracy, Matt

I’m not saying I wont watch Die hard. I’m just saying it’s the wrong choice here

die hard just swung ahead in the vote and it’s a fun movie but the death of stalin is what we should be watching

I tuned out of Narcos after it became clear the lead actor was going to do that one expression throughout the entire series. Marcos: Mexico sounds like I have to watch it, though.

I’m not sure that’s making it onto the watch list until you can guarantee safe harbor for all of us in your bud-friendly commune

Would make a fun fake trailer

Watched new episode of Better Call Saul.

I stand by my set up (previous episode) for big reveal (newest episode) sequence that’s being used.

The show is pretty much Breaking Bad starring Saul now.

Pretty sure Kim is the Skylar of BCS. She wanted to keep her nose clean but once Jimmy got in with the cartel, she opted to break bad instead of leave him.

Right now, Saul has found himself in over his head and nervous but will soon take pleasure in his work like Walter did.

Only thing they don’t have is a teenage kid eating breakfast every episode.

Also why did Mike not kill Lalo?

All of a sudden Lalo wanting to check the car after no suspicion previously shown is too convenient a plot device imo. A minor quibble though

Prediction: Either Nacho shoots Lalo or vice versa. One of them is gonna go, possibly both.

Ok, someone said they would welcome any stories about when I filmed the poker scene for Ozark S3E1. I was holding off because I was thinking of writing about it for a website, but I don’t think I will or I’ll just do both. I won’t write everything in one post, as it will get long. If anyone has questions, go for it.

Got the role like any background extra role: the extras casting agency posted it on Facebook and I sent in my pic and info. Said they were looking for people playing in a “high stakes poker game.” I snap-called.

Many casting calls ask people to send an e-mail with all the info, but this one just wanted a quick selfie and to fill out an online form. I couldn’t add any extra info. I was excited when I got a text back quickly saying I was booked, but then disappointed that they then said that the “actual” poker players would be selected on the day. WTF? I replied back to confirm and mentioned that I have worked in the poker industry for a decade and a half, so this is right in my wheelhouse. I was hoping that would have an impact.

I’ll write one more post for now.

Had a pre-fitting to figure out what I was going to wear on the day. I brought some suit options and they picked a few combos.

The day of filming, there were a TON of extras, as they needed lots of casino patrons. They separated about 30 of us from the rest, as we were the potential high rollers. I didn’t like my odds. Figured there would be seven max and not everyone would be a white male. Some people really looked like stereotypical high rollers or just looked great, in general. One was an Asian dude with long hair, a sharp suit, and sunglasses. There was a tall, good looking African-American guy with a slick suit. A hot blonde woman. I looked good, but I’m still just a white dude with glasses.

Eventually, a PA came and got us and announced two groups. He said not to read into what group we were in, that it didn’t matter. But when one group - the one I was in - had only four people, I had a good feeling. It was confirmed a few minutes later: I was a high roller. Everyone else was as spectator of the game.

They took us to wardrobe. As it turned out, they didn’t use any of my clothes, which was fine, but annoying, because I lugged three garment bags and a backpack. I was also sweating my ass off. They decided I would be the “tech millionaire.” They gave me designer jeans, a t-shirt, and a stylish windbreaker-type jacket. The waist on the pants was way too big, so they just pinned them in the back. Couldn’t tell on film, as I was sitting down.

Got hair and makeup done, still sweating. Fortunately, the set was cooler and I dried off by then.

Few days late but I’m super hyped for a properly done DUNE series

Lalo wanted to check the car because while driving to the well, Sau’s story didn’t line up. He told Lalo he had broken down on the side of the dirt road, so he and Nacho should have passed the car on the way to the meeting point with the cousins. When they didn’t, his red flag went up. It wasn’t a plot convenience, it made perfect sense.

Thought Kim getting killed was a lock to happen until her Skyler moment of diving in and now becoming a potentially important character.

Not saying it’s impossible but unless the producers wanted an excuse to whack her, why give her a bigger role in the plot after relegating her to being a bench warmer for the rest of the season?

I’m hoping they submit Rhea’s scene last Monday to the academy, because it was fantastic and she deserves at least a nomination for her work this year.

The guy playing Lalo is fantastic too.

Smart and scary in a way very different from Gus.

Marty,

Wardrobe depends on the production. They always have plenty for extras to wear, but they usually request that we bring certain items, depending on the role. Makes it easier for them if we already have things that fit us and would work. If it’s something with elaborate costumes, the only things they might ask us to bring would be socks and an undershirt.

Ozark was weird because I was pre-fitted, they chose mostly my own stuff, then they changed it completely on the day.

I did one show right before the lockdown where I wore all their stuff except for socks. It was great. Was pre-fitted and didn’t have to lug anything on the day.

Many times, we aren’t pre-fitted and just have to bring a bunch of clothes (if we have them) on the day to see if they are useful. That happens mostly with productions set in present-day if they know they won’t have to be too picky with costumes.

And yeah, it pays, but terribly. I just do it for fun.

It makes sense for her to die/get that vaccuum dude to send her somewhere but not after this revelation. It’s adding a whole new dimension to the plot. Cutting it off here is like having somebody unplug your TV just before you’re about to start an episode of Better Call Saul
