Maniac is so good it will ruin you.
Definitely not a light-hearted comedy either.

I took a shot with Maniac and she said she already tried to watch it and lost interest :(
This one’s not a keeper.
Been meaning to post that on this recommendation I stuck on Futureman one evening when my wife claimed she wasn’t interested in watching anything. She was also sucked in after about five minutes, and we’ve been flying through it when time allows since. It’s excellent and actually laugh out loud funny. If I fully understood the bags system I would agree with the rating, no doubt.
Is the Lynch version worth seeing?
No.
Well, it’s essential for some nerd cultural references, but it’s not good at all and does a huge injustice to the book.
Just read the book. It’s a sci-fi classic and legitimately good.
I’ve read the book. Or at least the first one.
Oh. In that case, watch the Lynch movie so you can laugh at Sting.
Like zikzak said, the movie is TERRIBLE. But if you’re a fan of the book and even a little bit of a film nerd, I would watch it the once. If there is one adaptation to skip, it’s that godawful made-for-TV version.
And Captain Picard!
Trolly, did you read the other Dune books? I did not realize a prequel series also produced by Villeneuve is coming out on HBO. Dune: The Sisterhood.
IndieWire has rounded up all the details about upcoming “Dune” adaptations on screens both big and small.
When comparing his version to Lynch’s, Denis said:
“David Lynch did an adaptation in the ’80s that has some very strong qualities. I mean, David Lynch is one of the best filmmakers alive, I have massive respect for him,” Villeneuve said. “But when I saw his adaptation, I was impressed, but it was not what I had dreamed of, so I’m trying to make the adaptation of my dreams. It will not have any link with the David Lynch movie. I’m going back to the book and going to the images that came out when I read it.”
Dune: The Sisterhood
I’d prefer a series based on Heretics and Chapterhouse. Those two were an enjoyable read and more or less stand-alone novels. Sort of a reward for people who made it through the slog of God Emperor.
As I mentioned, I’ve never read the book or seen the movie but heard nothing but great things about this for those who have.
Leto II is my favorite character and God Emperor my favorite book in the series.
What makes it your favorite?
I can relate to Leto.
It’s 400 pages of Duncan Idaho dying in different ways and a bunch of super boring exposition.
If you love the scandi noirs like me there’s an interesting new one called Twin
44m
It’s a dumb premise taken seriously. Pretty good through 2 eps.
Number 1 reason to watch however is that it stars everyone’s favourite wildling
