How long did it take to get the imaginary stick out of your ass?
REALLY??? Hype dude. I am eager to see this one. Double so now.
Tonight’s Netflix Watch Party will feature season 1 episode 3 (“Love Me Tinder”) of the anthology documentary series Hot Girls Wanted: Turn Me On.
March 30
10:00pm EST
Watch time: 40 minutes
The documentary of the same name and this series were produced by Rashida Jones, daughter of legendary Quincy Jones. She crafted one hell of a resume for herself with such works as
The Office
Parks & Recreation
I Love You, Man
The Social Network
She has lately, however, become far more well known for her political and philanthropic efforts, least of all by campaigning in the last four democratic presidential cycles, as well as the work we will be watching tonight.
The film was originally imagined as an exploration of male consumption of pornography on college campuses. The filmmakers abandoned this idea when they discovered that the men were mostly watching pornographic videos starring young women. Curious about why such a large number of young women were entering the industry, the film was reoriented to tell their story.
Though the first episode (directed by Rashida) and most other episodes indeed focus on exposing direct and tangential aspects of that industry, we’ll be watching episode 2, “Love Me Tinder,” which is not at all about the industry.
As the title suggests, It is instead a look at modern social dating dynamics. The episode profiles James Rhine, a former reality TV star (Big Brother) in his 40s who frequently uses dating apps to connect to younger women and “ghosts” the ones that lose his favor.
Yes.
It is a really good episode!
Boooo. Sorry dude. I chose the one episode I was thinking would be most accessible and kid friendly, but hard to escape the name.
Based on the title I assumed it was some carbon copy trash. What a weird name.
I think the title is something of a double-edged sword. It’s titillating and subversive, but it also puts off people who assume it is an excuse to parade nude people on screen when Rashida’s aim is quite the reverse.
Tiger King was fucked up. Every single person was batshit insane. And that crazy lady that explained you need to use sardine oil to get a tiger to eat had an interesting take considering Joe Exotic accused her of feeding her husband to the tigers.
Eh. I don’t think it’s tittilating or subversive. That’s the problem.
What would you have done differently?
FYI this series has a pretty rough history with sex workers. It portends to be sex positive but has, in several cases, outed sex workers or other transgressions.
That being said I have watched both and liked them overall.
I thought the music video showing a fat girl feed a tiger human remains was hilarious.
Joe exotic would probably be a better president than agent orange
He would have just made music videos of crooked Hillary.
He would beat this son of a bitch coronavirus by strapping explosives on it and gunning it down
His commercials definitely have more context given the documentary.
Love how Photoshopped that pic of his is at the end.
Turned off Tom Segura’s new special. Terribly unfunny like every other comedian now.
Oh God I hope she’s caught.
Also Netflix is releasing a new special with Chappelle tomorrow.
Actually it’s already here overseas!
