I think I’m going ti just make a weekly rant about The Wheel of Time. This is such a terrible bastardization of Robert Jordan’s story. There are so many changes that make no sense. It’s like whoever made the adaptation didn’t read or understand the books. God damn it.
I completely disagree. there are a bunch of changes, but that was always going to happen. the heart of the story is still the same. I’m a huge fan of the show.

I understand that there are some limitations in trying to convert an epic fantasy world from a book to a show, but all i read about was how this was some big budget effort to compete with GOT. The first couple seasons of GOT held very true to the novels, despite spanning massive, diverse areas. This show has taken pretty extreme liberties with altering the story right out of the gate. Even down to little details like giving Perrin a wife that he kills. What purpose does that serve? Then completely skipping over the journey to Caemlyn and sending them to Tar Valon before they go to the Eye of the World? And now apparently the Eye of the World is where the Dark One is imprisoned?
That’s the worst IMDB rating I’ve ever seen.
Fuck it; gonna go watch episode 1. I’ll report back in a half hour.

I’ve never read WOT and was thinking of watching.
I have read Foundation many times over and I was not bothered by the significant deviations from the text.
Wife and I tapped out halfway through. That was awful.
I guess there were two or three one-line zingers that were amusing, but the whole show seemed like it was written by an immature 12 year old. Just gratuitous raunchiness and profanity for the sake of raunchiness and profanity.
I don’t know what anyone (the writers, the voice actors, HBO) was thinking when they green lit this.

Yeah what is this garbage. I am travelling by train over the weekend and I wanted to download the whole season to my mobile to let the time run by.

I think I’m too biased in favor of the books to really be able to give a fair evaluation of the show. I honestly can’t say whether people who are unacquainted with WoT would enjoy it.
I’m too biased toward the books, as I’ve said, but I will say that I don’t think the production value is nearly as high quality as that of Game of Thrones, despite what we heard in the lead up to the series.
