Watched Picard and enjoyed.
Oh I am about ready for a wire rewatch
I enjoyed The Wire more the second time watching it. There are so many characters and story lines that itâs tough to catch everything the first time through.
Same. Its not the best show ever but Picard is a compelling character and Stewart is a great actor. Tough to botch that.
Body GOAT. Havenât done a Wire rewatch in 5+ years I should probably fix that
Seems to be on HBO+ and I ainât paying for another streaming service. Gotta get it the old-fashioned way I guess.
Wow Invincible latest episode was fire, usually caveat of fast forward teen drama.
The Wire spoilers:
I seriously got borderline PTSD from the Wallace death scene. That was so god damn brutal to watch. You knew it was coming and the whole time I was just hoping they popped him in the back of the head when he didnât know it was coming. That scene probably messed with me emotionally more than any other TV/movie scene ever has.
Omarâs death seemed inevitable but the way it went down was odd. One of the more WTF moments of the show. We went through that whole saga just to end it there? Really?
Bodieâs was inevitable. He couldnât get out of the game and was openly talking to cops. He got killed for the same reasons Wallace did.
OK fine one more Wire scene. This is probably my 2nd favorite after the previous Fuck scene. I donât know what it is, but the whole thing is sad, surreal, and wonderful at the whole time. Sorry for the quality, it was the only clip I could find.
One day Iâll get people on a Shield watch party.
That scene was great, but the carpenter in me was tilted as hell by it. Lester found the boards were initially screwed in, presumably the standard drill is the way to get those down. Then to put them back up just re-use the same screws with the same drill you took them down with? Also, those powder actuated nail guns are very loud (the ones I know of use an actual 0.22 cartridge) and are really meant for going through concrete. The sound could easily be reported as gunfire, and youâd think discretion would be key for what they were up to. I know Chris and Snoop werenât the sharpest crayons in the box, but youâd think theyâd know to be discrete. Nope, they pick a nail gun that can be heard from around the block and shoots fasteners so different that even Baltimoreâs finest saw through it.
Yea man but the drill requires batteries, and as we all know the trouble is when you leave it in the truck for a while and then need to step up and use the bitch, the battery donât hold up, ya know?
Itâs been really fun watching my gf going through The Wire for the first time. Wallace death fucked her up. She also thought Kima died when she was shot back in S1 and was legit distraught. Stringerâs death was anotherâit was easy to see it coming but still impactful. Compared it to Ned Stark dying in GOTâyou know it might be coming, but deep down you assume it wonât actually happen because itâs such an important character.
And yea we watched the first ep of S4 last night and both laughed out loud at the cold opening haha.
Probably necessary if any kind of a group watch is going to happen.
Until then, it can probably co-exist here with Pui Pui Molcar.
Oh, man, I havenât done it in a few years, but I think I rewatched The Shield once a year for about five years after I saw it the first time. It just keeps moving and keeps me hooked, and there are some early moments that are stunning in hindsight. The Nation of Islam guy in season 1 telling Vic âAdmit youâre evil.â
Oof. Man, that in particular plays so much better on rewatch. And I love their relationship.
The first time through Mara comes across like the wet blanket whoâs ruining the boysâ club; but in hindsight, she was totally right about Vic, and she loves and cares for Shane in a way Vic never did. Theyâre totally committed to each other, and itâs the fact that Shane puts his family over the Team (as he should) that leads to so much of the conflict and breaking apart of the last few seasons.
I stopped watching the shield after 3rd Season I think for no reason at all, just restarted a couple weeks ago and Iâve blown through most of first two seasons itâs so good
I just rewatched that like a month ago.
The serial killer subplot was when the show jumped the shark, but damn did I love it when they got an FBI profile and it nailed McNulty to a tee. It was sort of believable though in that it started as a one time lie that spiraled out of control.
