The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

Nice, I think it gets even better after season 3.

You know, people say this a bit, but I donā€™t agree. Given everything weā€™ve seen to that point, especially McNultyā€™s frustration with the system and his alcoholism and the erratic behavior itā€™s led to, it makes sense for his character that heā€™d try to do something that outlandish.

Itā€™s not nearly as ā€œrealisticā€ as what people may have come to expect, but I mean, neither is an open-air drug market, honestly. Itā€™s a plausible character choice and thatā€™s what drama is about.

The bigger problem with season 5 was that the newspaper arc was largely Simon grinding his axe against his old bosses, and he didnā€™t really develop those characters beyond what he needed in order to do that.

Sitting here in 2021 with all of our shared experience, I would say the biggest disappointment going back and watching The Wire now is that it will come across as Copoganda. Thereā€™s corruption and racism presented but by and large the cops are all presented as good people with an impossible job.

I would be interested in a Wire Season 1 watch-along thread at 8-9EST on Wednesdays in ~10 weeks

  • No, I have watched it recently.

Dirty Money S2 is on Netflix. Episode 2 is called Slumlord Millionaire and features Jared Kushner.

(First episode was how former Malaysian leader Alf Golden Sachs stole 7 billion plus dollars$

Iā€™m with you. A solid landing in the last season will put BCS in my top spot. Last season was sooooooo good on reflection

Mid season 7 GOT update

So far not the worst. Kind of moving the pieces and the deep complexity of the early seasons arenā€™t there but not so bad and some parts are still quite good

But why, when Jon and them go north of the wall, are they all walking? Why didnā€™t they take horses? If youā€™re goal is to capture a wight and get back wouldnā€™t you want the fastest way to travel? II donā€™t mean that seriously. Itā€™s not a big issue just something that bothered me.

I think it was supposed to be a ā€œstealthā€ mission so you canā€™t have horses making noise because they saw a zombie.

That said it was still a super dumb idea on every other level.

I wonder if those that watched it as it aired and discussed it at length on the internet between each episode will generally have a different feeling opposed to those that binged it all after it was finished.

How many episodes per session?

Also can it be on Tuesday instead? And a bit earlier? My revised teaching schedule allows me to sleep super-late Tuesday into Wednesday.

It blew my mind when I learned, years later, that Michael Jordan was Wallace.

Well Jon can teleport from one end of the country to another. Why would he need a horse?

The Navy SEAL kidnap a wight mission north of the wall was definitely one if the dumber plotlines :wastebasket:

It looks like only two people were interested in having a watch-along. I kinda want to get something going when Iā€™m done with Twin Peaks, but idk what shows people would want to see.

I might be interested, but donā€™t want to fully commit to something yet.

In 10 weeks itā€™s going to be summer and everyone is going to be vaccinated. I may be too interested in seeing people that I havenā€™t seen in over a year.

8th annual Live On Cinema At The Cinema Oscar Special today. Super stoked
