The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

Well, I’m no historian, but,

lol that was when it aired on Nick At Nite

Yeah, I agree. They’re definitely not half-assing it. I like that they’re not trying to be more, yet it still works. My wife had never seen the Karate Kid, so I made her watch it in prep for Cobra Kai. After just the one watch, even she likes Cobra Kai.

I don’t think “fanservice” is why it’s great, Cobra Kai succeeds mostly because does its own thing and has very strong characters and acting. I really didn’t care about the original movie at all and still loved the new show.

I’m not sure I’d say “direct rip-off”, but I will say that the episode was not good at all. It wasn’t entertaining and was complete filler. First bad episode of the series.

Thankfully that doesn’t develop into a pattern. S2E7 is the best episode of the show so far. And I’m excited for the holiday special.

Lol. I believe iron. I laughed pretty hard in the first few seasons of Big Bang.

Actually, while NCIS New Orleans is in its last season, a Hawaii-based spinoff is rumored to be in the works.

Wow this will speak to 0 people but the pacing on Invincible is… something. How does Sandra Oh and JK Simmons sign up for something that at this rate will be 10 seasons? Maybe this is just a covid thing of companies wanting cheap animation. And this might be the first score of -10 on the Bechdel Test ever. Every single scene is a “where’s poochy?” of women talking about men lmao.

Watching the first three episodes Made for Love and I like Cristin Milioti but this felt like a miss to me. There’s just too many odd bits that keep taking me out of the story that is didn’t click for me.

It does have bolded, but it also has some very weak acting. If I didn’t know Macchio was The Karate Kid, I’d be wondering why they hired some no talent hack to play one of the lead roles.

Maybe it’s just me, but Macchio’s acting in this is not good.

Agree to disagree I guess, I think he’s pretty great and it’s odd he hasn’t found work as a TV sitcom dad.

I think I read that he wasn’t actively looking for that type of work and instead focused on family or other projects.

Macchio seems like a normal dude that knows he hit the movie character jackpot and doesn’t mind being typecast.

Anyone watch the last two seasons of Suits?

It was already going rapidly downhill and can’t imagine it has any further viewing value without Mike and Meghan.

I sort of did but it’s wholly unnecessary. You are missing nothing.

How do you watch Karate Kid 20+ times and ask if you should watch Cobra Kai? The show was made for you

Well I know that now.

I was just worried because if it was bad, then it would be a huge disappointment.

Thanks to netflix I get to watch some old classics that I somehow always missed on TV 10-20 years ago. Latest “The professionals” and oh boy Claudia Cardinale was just a goddess back then. Already knew here from “Once upon a time in the west”. Probably have to watch “The Pink Panther” next.

Just watched the documentary on white boy rick, pretty infuriating stuff

When they “revealed” at the end that the hitman who admitted to 30+ executions in court was out of jail after 18 years, but rick was still in after 28, all I could do is laugh.

Anyone watch The Serpent on Netflix? It’s a limited series.

Decided to try it on a whim and got through 4.5 episodes before I had to call it a night. I have really enjoyed it. It is a bit of a mash up of two genres I really enjoy.

It’s based on a real story. I don’t want to give too much away. It takes place in the 70s in the Far East and revolves a lot around backpack tourism. Touches on smuggling issues and such but I don’t want to say too much more.

It is a bit confusing during the first three episodes as it jumps back and forth in the time line over and over sometimes covering events from different characters viewpoints.

It’s not a perfect show but it sucked me in. It’s really hard for me to start a show. I almost always bail during the first episode of everything. I was ready to bail twenty minutes in as I wasn’t paying close enough attention but I gave it a few more minutes.
