The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

A lot of the conspiracy mongering actually made me angry more than informed.

Probably should have stopped watching and checked my prediction on Wikipedia to see if I was right. Save time that way.

Imposters (S1)

I liked it, a soft recommend. Itā€™s a bit of a CW drama. That is, impossibly good looking young people involved in endless romantic shannigans, but it had some twists. The big one I thought was interesting is the story is about a con woman who has taken three trust fund babiesā€™ money and vanished. But the story mostly follows the marks as they hunt down the con woman and increasingly pulling off cons and heists themselves.

Again, itā€™s not high art, but I found it entertaining.

Yeah, my basic thought is that the plot is basically fine but it was like listening to a podcast on 2.5x speed.

i thought everyone already does the podcast thing.

we started watching Normal People. itā€™s not bad, even if it is at its core high school romance nonsense

Superman and Lois is the best thing on CW. Terrific pilot, great for all ages, fun easter eggs for nerds. Emotionally intelligent portrayal of teens and parents. Theyā€™re so savvy they make a Euphoria reference!!

I watched it when it originally aired. I enjoyed it. Thought the lead actress was pretty compelling.

I have listened to thousands of hours of podcasts and never speed any of them up for any period of time. I would never do it and actually think it is weird, even though I know a lot of people do it.

Come at me.

its more efficient bro, not everyone has all day to cram that shit in. 1.5x is dope

Yeah, I donā€™t speed podcasts up. I prefer to consume every second at the pace it was produced. I get speeding them up, but sometimes my brain doesnā€™t work that fast. When it comes to doing any sort of tasks, leisure or otherwise, I basically have two paces. Fairly slow and methodical, making sure to leave no stone unturned, and ridiculously fast DGAF pace. Iā€™m either going to just read a headline, or Iā€™m going to spend as much time as necessary combing over and understanding every word of the article. None of that in-between skimming shit.

How little is little? Thereā€™s some comic book violence, but itā€™s Superman stuff. A brief discussion of mental health and antidepressants. Iā€™d really be worried about anything gratuitous, but nothing like that in this to my recollection.

Ohhhh. I think theyā€™d be fine with this. The older one may even like it most because Supermanā€™s teenage sons are main characters and they are shockingly good.

Yeah, same. I listen to podcasts because I want to hear people talk, not because Iā€™m trying to check a box for content consumed. Iā€™ll speed up a video if Iā€™m actually in the latter situation or on a time crunch (like watching how-to-play videos at my old job).

Iā€™m after content consumed and would consider paying for podcast transcription.

Iā€™ve had the argument on this forum about me watching TV and movies at 1.5x.

Canā€™t tell you how grateful I am whenever I find podcasts that offer transcribed episodes.

Iā€™m not super into The Daily anymore, but I donā€™t have to be when they offer a transcription. Two minutes to read a 30m episode.

See, this I would consider doing as well, mostly though because I read a lot faster than people talk. (And with no commute these days, I donā€™t have a natural time to listen to podcasts.)

Marvel binge update: Age of Ultron kinda sucked but was still fun

Meh most of the marvel movies are like that for me. I enjoy them but poof they are gone out of my head within days. Not like Superman when I was a kid or ET or SW or even fast times and Shawshank.

Scarlet Witch especially

i could get a nice nap that starts in the first 40 minutes of any marvel movie, and ends 10 minutes before credits. thatā€™s probably why WandaVision works for me tbh

I never saw Ultron. Just seemed like eating your vegetables: you have watch this movie about these characters you donā€™t care about because they matter in the infinity war movies. Meh.
