The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

I have not seen it.

I was going to break form from my Netflix List Project and finally watch Barry Lyndon, but this is tempting…

Did you end up checking out Wendy? So curious to hear what you thought, though my heart titters noticing it did not capture enough of you to send you back ITT with praise…

How did Freaks treat you, SniperPerson?

Sorry forgot to post about it. I really enjoyed it. Again the stripped down psychological thrillers are where it is at and I enjoyed Bruce Dern and the little girl.

I like the “how would society treat people with special powers” stories. It’s why I was only person who watched tv show Alphas.

I actually like the way they do their timing. There are no restraints of a network, so why dont more shows do that? If a story takes 27 minutes to tell instead of 22, why try to force it into 22 minutes?

It seems to be a holdover from their youtube days when there was even less restriction on how long something could or should be

It really is. I wish we’d get more otherworld tales told as stripped-down psychological thrillers like this.

I like to think of this as though the events of Glass happened, then as more unbreakable people popped up, society shifted into the superhero dystopia we see in Freaks.

If you know of any more like this (book/TV show/movie), please pass a recommendation or two my way :+1:

No, I have not watched Wendy, although I still might. Been busy relocating, and I don’t watch that much TV/movies to begin with.

Understood. Let me help you with your plate. I’ll watch double to help out until you have occasion.

When will you sleep?

Whenever there is a commerical break or the internet goes out…but wait! I have Blu-rays!

Just caught up on Peaky Blinders (through S5). It’s good, not the best show I’ve ever watched but I’m definitely going to watch the next season when it comes out later this year.

Very minor S5 spoilers below:

The Fascism seemed over the top at first until I realized that it is really no different from what we’re going through now. The ending certainly left me wanting to know what happens next.

show of the year Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist returns tonight for season 2.

love this show, its not the best for sure but its entertaining as fuck, will def watch the next season.

Everyone should at least watch the pilot. Such a compelling exploration of an already compelling premise.

Doctor Who holiday special dropped New Year’s Day.

Captain Jack Harkness!

Classic TV: I went on a bit of ramble on Twitter tonight about Get a Life, so let me just recommend it again here. Starring Chris Elliott; David Mirkin (Simpsons seasons 5 and 6) was showrunner; Charlie Kaufman and Bob Odenkirk wrote for season 2; and, oh yeah, Handsome Boy Modeling School.

Anyway, the whole thing (except apparently the pilot) is on YouTube:

When I was a kid fart and poop jokes were as sacrilegious as saying fuck or ■■■■■ Now kids shows have them everywhere. Maybe this is just the logical extension of that? In another 20 years kids shows may look like an Andrew Dice Clay routine.
