I was supposed to be in this and was so pissed that day when I ended up doing nothing.
There’s a scene where a bunch of scientists are in a room observing and laughing at college Unabomber (I only saw the scene - haven’t watched the show). I was cast as one of the scientists. There was also an extra cast as an FBI agent. As normally happens, we sat around all day waiting to shoot.
When the AD came to figure out how we were all going to be positioned and give us instructions for the scene, he decided I looked better as the FBI agent, so I switched. That also meant I had to wait longer for my scene. Cool - I had fun watching the other guys while I waited.
I was finally called to set and the two actors - one was the lead scientist, one the lead agent - introduced themselves to me. They were very nice. The idea for the scene was that we were supposed to be watching what was going on from behind a two-way mirror. I noticed the director looking at me all strange-like and then start talking to someone. Uh oh.
The AD came over and told me I needed to step out for a moment. He then explained that because the other agent was already established in that room, the director realized it didn’t make sense that I was suddenly there, too. He assured me that they would find a spot for me, but in the end, they never did, and I spent the whole day doing nothing.
Sky High worth a watch if you like lighthearted comic book movies. Cast includes Kurt Russel, Lynda Carter, Bruce Campbell and two Kids in the Hall alums. Oh and Mary Elizabeth Winstead too.
If you keep this tag bookmarked you can follow along; each one will come out at 8 AM EST. I will still post them each day, but, uh, I don’t get up that early.
Nah I love N Cage too. Was a wild Netflix era when he went on full dump mode and you could find all sorts of movies you never heard of he was in and watch them.
I try to see them all because you never know what you will get from him.
Plus that Superman documentary “The Death of Superman Livesl is worth watching for cage alone.
One of my favorite genres is psychological thrillers.
I decided to bring it up and start watching as many as I can. I have watched like seven or eight in the last few days. Including ones I have seen before like The Gift (Jason Bateman one not the earlier one), The Invitation, The Guest. Plus several I haven’t seen or heard of before.
Not much to report yet. Was one very flawed but semi decent Netflix original “An Affair to Die For” not great, not horrible, and I had some big issues with the existence of the plot ten minutes in… otherwise.
Back to the psychological thriller key bowl.
Edit: list so far
The Gift
The Roommate (seriously these names)
Knock Knock (rewatched like two months ago so did not watch again. Do not watch unless you are a Keanu completist)
House at the End of the Street
Only Mine
The Invitation
An Affair to Die For
1922
Self/Less
Lost Girls (not sure this really belongs in this genre)
The Guest
Thriller
The last one is really more of a horror movie. Which is a problem for me in that I am not a big horror fan but horror and thrillers definitely share a lot of the same real 3xtste.
I have not. I will give it a shot if you think I’ll see its value even if it’s not to my taste.
I am a huge noir fan, but gangster stuff bores me to tears. It’s not a judgement on the genre. It’s just not to my taste. I love the first twenty minutes of The Godfather but then turn it off. The Untouchables is The Unwatchable for me. The closest I came to liking a gangster movie was a really very silly but somehow very fun sort-of gangster/western hybrid starring Bruce Willis.
Loyal to nobody but himself, John Smith (Bruce Willis) hires his services out to Fredo Strozzi (Ned Eisenberg), a bootlegging gangster who operates in a drab Texas town. However, he is quick to trade information to Strozzi’s rival, Doyle (David Patrick Kelly). Then, having learned about Doyle’s infatuation with beautiful Felina (Karina Lombard), Smith uses her to push both bosses into full-scale bloodshed. The only one who suspects anything is Hickey (Christopher Walken), Doyle’s lieutenant.
Well yeah Last Man Standing is awesome. I love gangster stuff, mafia, black street gangs, heist, old timey prohibition era stuff, Legend which focuses on some old school British gangsters starring the great Tom Hardy
