I’m glad I don’t know what any of this is because I would max bet Nic Cage like a chump 100% of the time.
I bailed midway through the Fartbook episode, although I watched the succeeding episode and have stayed with the show through the new releases this weekend.
I can only speak for season one, but this show from National Geographic is terrific. It’s like Apollo 13, but instead of a catastrophic jaunt to the moon, the team is headed to establish the first base on Mars.
The series alternates between historical and repurposed documentary footage circa 2016 of the space program, Elon Musk, politicians vs the dramatized expedition to Mars in 2033. It’s a gripping story as well-paced as Apollo 13, and the non-linear structure evokes the grander sense of scale and impact of space exploration.
Only six episodes per season, and the show is unfortunately disappearing from Netflix (US) on Dec 31. Glad I gave this one a shot. I ran through the first season today and am going to finish what looks to be a bold second season.
Watched the first episode. Didn’t immediately pull me in, but I can see the potential. I’ll give it a few more views.
Manhunt: Deadly Games is excellent and fills out the story of Richard Jewell far better than the Eastwood flick.
Manhunt: Unabomber ended up being the real treasure. Sam Worthington normally sucks harder than Tom Hardy, but here he is magnetic. And Paul Bettany, WOW, he inhabits the role completely.
Plz stop lol
I know it’s hard to believe but we all saw Avatar and Terminator: Salvation
Now here’s the gold standard
Mrs rugby got me into korean tv. So good.
Try “when the camellia blooms” next. It has the most likeable romance in TV history, plus serial killers.
A true chameleon has arrived
Haha the GOAT, i love that one where he’s acting as priest in face off, right as he grabs the girls ass.
On the subject of Tom Hardy, have you seen him in Peaky Blinders? I don’t really think its much different than his usual characters i guess but hes great, plays a jewish gangster.
I know I’ve professed my love for Nic Cage here before but man hes great, its a running inside joke in my family (siblings and me) that I like him and everyone else doesnt. My sister got me a tshirt of him from raising arizona and i love that shirt.
I haven’t seen Peaky. Hard for me to enjoy gangster movies, but that’s just me. Ana-Taylor Joy is almost enough for me to at least check out an episode.
Nic is a primal force. He just needs someone to channel it. Yesterday though I compared him to Chris Evans. Both had an explosion of success in their late twenties and thirties. But you look at Evans and the decisions he’s made now that he doesn’t have to make anything he doesn’t want to make. I like seeing what he does next, like the recent Red Sea Diving Resort and Snowpiercer. I compare that to Nic’s decisions at the same age and think maybe there’s something to this.
This was a great one with Alexandra Daddario. Did you end up watching it?
It’s not just the spot-on banter (the exact right metal bands name-checked) or how their attempts to be badass are so much more innocent than today’s. “We Summon the Darkness” is an end-of-the-’80s movie (at one point the youngest of the girls asks, “Who’s Judd Nelson?”), and there are moments when it feels like it could be the first horror film directed by Richard Linklater.
Beets, I meant to tell you but could not remember which poster had seen this until now. I read the memoir this was based on and think you’d enjoy it.
you should check it out man its great fun, Ana Taylor joy isnt in it till like Season 5 though i think. Cillian Murphy is great though
I don’t really think of it as heavily fart-based, although I have a pretty high tolerance for that sort of thing. I think more typical of the show is something like “Super Soft Birthday” or “A Fuss in the Back Bush” from season 1. It’s really more a combination of the wordplay and verbal humor with how well-observed and detailed the community and its characters are. That kind of thing may take time to grow on you.
I had a friend who was really into HSX. Every time he would go to a movie, he would get there early and pop his head into every single room just to see what the crowds were like for various films. If he saw something that was very different than expected, then he might make moves based on that (or at least do more research on it).
It honestly sounded like something I would have been interested in, but I just had too many other stupid hobbies I was into.
Yeah she appeared in the last season, also has a pretty small part in the show overall and her character sucks.
Yeah, it was pretty lame, tbh.
Ted Lasso lived up to the hype ITT. My wife’s favorite show of the year, she’s in love with it.
