Oh I see there’s a thread for it, I’ll check that out.
You’re not alone I made it through ep 2 where I realized the plot advancement was “gals climb mountain don’t see anything climb back to camp” made it, somehow, slower than Lost which had the double the episodes per season.
Just want to get in my periodic mention that Lost betrayed me and other viewers.
They even said they had this huge long term plan/arc, but there was no long term plan. They lied and the deus ex machina was lame. Fuck you Lost!
There a new George Clooney thing on Netflix? It any good?
It’s on our watch party schedule. I thought it didn’t release until Dec 23?
But they did have a plan. A very clear and compelling one. And then…
It’s not your fault.
I’m hyped. Looks great. Loved him in previous mindfuck sci-fi film Solaris (the remake).
I can see that. My wife has continued watching so I’ve seen a few things coming in and out of the room. I think I could really hate this show.
The original Solaris is one of my favorite movies. What a great film.
I hope you made it to episode four.
Is that the one with the penis? Cuz that was laugh out loud funny.
Thats the one!
Watching Small Axe, and since i know nothing about the british police i can only identify different police forces by their different funny hats
His Dark Materials (BBC of course) just ended S2 and I’d say its a pretty decent adaptation so far. Ruth Wilson is great. Something about this series really speaks to me and obv I’d say that being an antitheist is a big part of it but just the interplay of characters and their daemons is really great. Check it out if um you hate religion like me.
Being an antitheist is a strong statement
I have been on the fence after that meh movie, but you have convinced me to give it a shot. Does it take time to pick up, or will I know quickly whether the show is to my taste?
Is this the same one on HBO?
Nah its been a very consistent experience, showrunners have done a good job. Watch ep 1 and if you don’t like it give up but its a 8/10 adaptation of a 10/10 book series to me. The lead is pretty good and her “main counterpart” is good as well, but the adults (Wilson mainly, but Lin-Manuel Miranda, Andrew Scott, James McAvoy FFS) all chew the scenery as expected in their 2-4ish episode appearances through the so far 2 seasons of ~8 a piece.
I finished rereading the golden compass/the northern lights today and man Pullman is a talent for sure, just beyond the obvious personal agreement of what his themes are. A really, really big disservice that the Kidman movie was made, ugh. Hope they can close it out for season/book 3 next year. Pretty sure this is the same show on HBO just ~2 months behind but I wouldn’t know as I steal everything.
I’ll stop my Peelelight Zone rewatch and check it out right now
