The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

I really liked Burr’s monologue, and I find it especially funny that the rich white liberal audience SNL has cultivated over four years of becoming Hallmark Channel Liberal Fantasy Camp got mad at it

That seems a bit excessive, but i watched all 10 ten minute episodes and it was good. I tend to like Hodgman and it’s solid if you like his stuff and may be solid if you don’t, but i wouldn’t know because I like his stuff.

It’s Bruno is silly and funny in a good way. Ideal for dog lovers.

Sorry didn’t mean to reply just to you.

Looks like it could be good

Watched the first episode of Dicktown during my lunch break. Not entirely sure how I feel about it.

Are there any good horror shows on Netflix/Prime that most of us haven’t already seen?

The article above makes me wish The Mole was on Netflix

That said, I don’t think it was as good as most of his standup on similar topics, largely because he didn’t have the time to really develop the ideas and bits-- a lot of his approach involves saying something initially outrageous on the surface and then walking the audience into seeing it his way. He didn’t really have time to do that and at least once just kinda moved on when the audience wasn’t getting on board.

There’s a pretty good horror show on CNN every night, even if it’s a bit on the nose at times

Started Ratched on Netflix last night. Seems pretty good so far. Says it’s horror but I don’t really get those vibes. Sarah Paulson is great as usual.

I binged Evil. I still don’t know if it was “good” or not. The Sandler Halloween show is better than what I’ve seen from him lately but not scary.

M-O-O-N. That spells “it looks worse than the one with Molly Ringwald and Lieutenant Dan”.

I haven’t watched House on Haunted Hill yet but heard the new sequel is decent and comparable.

Is anybody else watching Fargo? I can’t point to anything in particular that’s wrong with it* but it’s missing the mark for me, in more than one way.

*Actually there’s one minor thing I can identify - I keep noticing the foleys. If they’re noticeable, they’re bad. It defeats the whole purpose. I’m not sure when it started to be a thing to have them so forward in the mix but it’s a super annoying trend that needs to end. I’m going to blame @nunnehi even though he’s probably not responsible and I don’t even know what it is he does.

Watched first episode only so far.

Haven’t enjoyed it since season one

Can’t remember if I’ve brought this up here before but season 1 didn’t age well for me and season 2 totally turned me off to the show. I don’t think Hawley has any original ideas beyond “cute names” and almost everything interesting about the show comes from either the actors or the properties he’s ripping off (properties he doesn’t really understand). S2 struck me like he didn’t really have a story and just pasted it together by lifting scenes from Coen Brothers movies wholesale.

The Netflix cozy murder mystery with Sandler and Jennifer Aniston was fun. I like this new phase of his career where he’s making fun little Netflix comedies.

After checking the internet for good horror recommendations, I have Cam, Girl on the Third Floor, It Comes at Night, and We Summon the Darkness on my list of movies to watch. Also I might re-watch I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, that was pretty great.

My recommendations for a popcorn Netflix movie night are Hush and You’re Next, two low-budget home invasion slasher movies that have stuck with me as being pretty well done.
